Date Everything, like many other dating sims, is about befriending and romancing the many different characters you meet in the game (and even have a 'hate' relationship with some if you so desire). However, the game is also quite zany and has some weird and wonderful characters and gameplay mechanics, including the ability to die. Doing so will unlock the 'Game Over' trophy and achievement, but it's a little unclear how this is done. In this guide, I'll explain how to die in Date Everything so you can add the achievement to your collection and see everything the game has to offer.
How to Unlock the Attic Door in Date Everything
In order to get into the attic, Date Everything players will need to head down into the crawl space to find the key needed to unlock the attic door.
How to Get the 'Game Over' Trophy/Achievement in Date Everything
It's All About Dishy
To die in Date Everything, you need to engage in and lose the boss battle against Dishy, the Dishwasher. This took me about five interactions with Dishy to reach the point where the boss battle was triggered. The first time, I enabled Dishy to do his updates as requested and run through his welcome spiel. The second time I spoke with him, he asked me to select one of four 'perfectly secure passwords.' Pick whichever one you feel you're most likely to remember and finish the conversation with him.
I'd recommend choosing one of the two passwords that end in '40' and remembering the digit that comes before it. In my playthrough, this was '840' or '640'. These are much easier to remember than the other two options, which are very similar the whole way through, other than a different digit midway through the password itself. It's just easier to glance at the final three digits and know which password is yours in future conversations.
The third time you speak with Dishy, he'll request the password you just set. Provide it to him, and he'll tell you all about the different updates he has installed.
During the fourth conversation after entering your password, you need to select the following dialogue options:
- I am not so sure about this
- I'm calling Valdivian support.
- No, I'm calling them!
- Val, my dishwasher is trying to get online and infect me with malware.
- I'd like to turn off the feature where Dishy asks me to connect to the internet.
- There's no Dishy, sorry. I mean can I stop the dishwasher from notifying me?
- Yes, please!
- Looks good, thank you.
On the fifth conversation with Dishy, you need to enter your password and then select these dialogue options:
- No, I'm okay.
- You are going too far with this.
- You can't be doing this.
- There's something wrong with you, Dishy.
At this point, Dishy will determine that the problem here is an operator error and challenge you to a boss battle.
The easiest way to lose this is to constantly select the 'Call for Help' option if you've not befriended many other characters in the game yet. For me, Sinclaire showed up once, and after that, nobody responded to my calls (even though I had befriended other characters like Dorian and Nightmare). This then essentially 'skips' your turn, allowing Dishy a free attack.
Continue to let Dishy attack you until your health reaches zero, and you'll die. You'll be returned to the main menu and can load up your most recent save, but you'll have the 'Game Over' achievement/ trophy in Date Everything for your efforts.
