Frets on Fire is a GPL-licensed Guitar Hero clone for PCs. The point of the game is to emulate real guitar playing by rhythmically pressing down combinations of keys on the keyboard in time to music. The game encourages the player to pick up their keyboard and hold it upside down as if it were a guitar and use the F1 to F5 keys as the "frets" and the enter and right-shift keys for strumming. The game also supports guitar-controller input as well.
The game comes with three songs licensed for distribution with the game, but also includes the option of importing songs from the original Guitar Hero, and its sequel, Guitar Hero II for those who own them.
