Middle-earth: Shadow of War somehow finds a way to improve on the winning Shadow of Mordor formula and create an incredibly dense and entertaining new piece of Tolkien lore.

The original game was such a unique and thrilling experience that was always going to be hard to top. I wouldn't consider Shadow of War to be quite as memorable overall (aside from how it ended), but I still think it's a really solid and really enjoyable exploration into other facets of the LotR universe.

The Nemesis system is the star of the show in Shadow of War. I loved building rivalries with orcs, but the endgame grind for loot felt unnecessary. Despite that, it’s an epic adventure for us Tolkien fans.
