New Super Mario Bros. U was released in November 2012 as a launch title for the Wii U. The game added a handful of new gameplay mechanics to the iconic Super Mario Bros. series, such as the flying squirrel power-up that let players glide for an extended period.

The disappointing sales of the Wii U caused the game to go under the radar; however, like many Wii U games, it was eventually released on Nintendo Switch.
