Description

I still remember the first time I played Persona 4 on the PlayStation 2. I was just a kid with limited knowledge of English, so while I loved the colorful setting, I didn’t fully understand what was going on. Years later, when I had the chance to play Persona 4 Golden, it was a nostalgic reunion with a more mature perspective, allowing me to truly enjoy its incredible story from beginning to end.
In my opinion, Persona 4 Golden is the best game in the series for newcomers to the franchise. It offers a fantastic and approachable story, balancing lighthearted moments with the suspense of a murder mystery. The characters are incredibly engaging, and the game avoids the complexity of Persona 5's mechanics or the slow narrative buildup of Persona 3, making it an ideal starting point.

Am I rating it so high just because my favorite character got a Social Link? ....maybe. But it's a great game! Persona 4 is now so overshadowed by Persona 5 but I really feel it holds up. I used to live in a small town in Japan and no game has gotten the experience -right- the way this one does.

Persona 4 Golden is Persona 4 perfected. More content, better pacing, and a shiny new soundtrack. If you’re going to play Persona 4, this is the version to go for. It’s comfy, emotional, and will likely get its hooks in you before you know it.

This game has so much heart. The small-town setting and the bonds you form with the characters feel incredibly personal. The murder mystery plot keeps you guessing, and the mix of lighthearted and emotional moments is perfectly balanced. It’s timeless.
