seems very rushed for cash grab. Lose interest fast. Difficult to keep track on buildings and upgrades. The Fonts are boring— the amenities are difficult to allot. A lot of work needs to be done here. Tragic.

Game is awesome! Combat is improved with the generals and diplomacy & religion are better. Was too easy to dominate 6 with religion. And resources are way better you can't simply win because you got the only iron or oil now resources give buffs so the cheap tactic of blocking resources isn't a thing made it too easy to win in 6 as well

Ages system is a game killer. Back to Civ 6 until they either remove this or give option to turn off forced ages nonsense. Or wait for Civ 8 when they realize Civ 7 was a dud.

Huge fan of the Civ series and its probably on my Mount Rushmore of game series. Played the original and every new iteration since (with the exception of either civ2 or 3, can't remember). Some I've spent more time on than others, but I've enjoyed some aspects of all of them. I wouldn't be surprised if 7 ends up being my favorite once there are additional QoL updates and additional expansions. As with past civ games, the vanilla version at launch is a 6 or 7. After patches and expansions, I'm guessing it will get bumped up to an 8 or 9. Worth buying for the cost of a decent night out. Already have dozens of hours played and haven't gotten bored yet as the updates and addons come out. Recommend it knowing it will only get better with time.

I appreciate the new cities and towns dynamic as well as the Commanders that stack troops.

But the Era's system and not being able to get veteran leveled up troops break the gane.

The strict rails you put on achievements for each age are tiresome and destroy the one more turn cravings.

Absolutely hate the ages system, Civ switching and the choice of “leaders” they came out with. Complete bastardization of the franchise. Do not want to play Humankind. How on earth did they think this was a good idea?

This used to be a fabulous game ive spent 3k hours playing CIV 6 is now completely dead!! It's like they sold the franchise to amateurs and came up with something very illogical and broken but used the name only to sell the product.. I Hope CIV 8, if it gets there, will be again a masterpiece! The entire team needs to be fired. It's an insult they charge such a high price for the founders pack pre lunch and released a completely unfinished game at lunch date.... And no matter the updates its still NO FUN at all!! It's a broken game! I would already sell it at 90% off and wouldn't be surprised they do it very soon.

At launch I would have rated a 1 but if you give it time and you think about what they game is trying to accomplish, it's actually pretty cool. Yes, it's very rough. Day one it had more bugs than features and sure it's a cash grab - I hate that term. Games are produced by people who are looking to make money and not for our inane amusement. Ideally, the publishers can accomplish both and I'm confident that this franchise will do a great job iterating its way continuously towards an awesome experience (and money).

Civilization games have a history of being a little slow out of the blocks, but Civ 7 feels particularly sluggish. There’s a distinct lack of polish and a lot of crashes on console at launch, not to mention a bunch of missing features, Civs, and Leaders that really should have been there right from the get-go. My biggest gripe with the game lies elsewhere though.

One of the things that I love most about Civilization games is building an empire that can survive and thrive through the ages. However, being forced to switch Civs at each age transition cheapens that somewhat. It feels like change for the sake of change, and I can’t for the life of me understand why it wasn’t made optional. As things stand, I’d much rather be playing Civ 6, and looking at Steam DB, I’m far from the only one.

Very disappointed. I am a long time player of the series, and I feel let down. I am not excited to play the game, but force myself to play and see what I am missing. And each time, I find a new reason to turn the game off. I haven’t yet, but may just play the older games. If the game never releases a new one, this last one will have ruined its legacy.
