What a shame that the studio behind this gem was shut down.
Sleeping Dogs was easily one of the best open-world games of its era with a different story and setting.
Hong Kong is just a great location for open-world games and Sleeping Dogs did show it through a twisted story.

There is a lot to enjoy about Sleeping Dogs, from the great Hong Kong setting, to smoothe driving mechanics, and especially melee combat. Pulling of ccombos is incredibly satisfying, and nearby NPCs will react to devastating moves.
The DLC didn't really add much, but the main plot is intriguing and the base game is enjoyable in itself. It's just a shame that we will likely never see a sequel.

A very fun game with a focus on Chinese gangs, which makes a nice change from the usual Yakuza or Mafia games. Story is good and the open world fun to explore, if a little dated nowadays!

A fantastic mix of hand-to-hand combat, driving, and an engaging story set in a vibrant Hong Kong. The undercover cop angle kept things fresh and exciting throughout.

In a sub-genre dominated by Grand Theft Auto, there's been little room for others for a long time. With Sleeping Dogs, the now-defunct United Front Games gave solid reasons for why its game more than deserved some room in that category. Set in Hong Kong, Sleeping Dogs follows the story of an undercover cop trying to take down the bad guys from within—a classic plot for any crime-drama media. From its impressively layered combat system to the plethora of fun missions and side activities, there's a lot on offer here. In certain areas, such as combat and the novelty of setting, Sleeping Dogs even goes steps ahead of other major open-world crime games from that time, namely GTA and Saints Row.
