Description
In This War Of Mine, you do not play as an elite soldier, rather as a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with a lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. During the day you need to focus on maintaining your hideout: crafting, trading and taking care of your survivors. At night, take one of your civilians on a mission to scavenge for items that will help you stay alive.
Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them for longer-term survival. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better.

This War of Mine is one of those games that really makes you think. It’s not about being a soldier in a war, but about surviving as a civilian in the middle of it, and the emotional weight of that is heavy. Every decision feels important—do you risk going out for supplies and potentially get injured, or do you stay safe and starve? The bleak art style and the dark tone perfectly capture the desperation of the situation. It’s tough, emotionally draining, and often feels like a losing battle, but it’s one of the most thought-provoking experiences I’ve had in gaming.

This War of Mine deeply questions how far we would go for survival and explores the extremes of such a scenario. Beyond risking ourselves to gather resources, the game often forces us to question our own humanity to achieve results. After all, does that elderly couple really need those supplies, or is the survival of our group more important? It’s a haunting and thought-provoking experience that stays with you long after you’ve stopped playing.
