Dead by Daylight: Best Builds for The Cannibal (2023)

A fan-favorite Killer or a face-camping fiend depending on perspective, in Dead By Daylight Bubba Sawyer remains a controversial figure nearly 50 years after the release of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The Cannibal can be a fearsome Killer in close quarters, but closing the distance can be difficult on a larger map with plenty of viable loops for Survivors to make use of, which is why Leatherface can benefit greatly from a few choice perks that enhance his gameplay in Dead by Daylight.

This guide will showcase two different builds for The Cannibal in Dead by Daylight, one targeted at players with access to teachable perks and the other for players without.

The Cannibal: Best Non-Teachable Build (2024)

Newcomers to Dead by Daylight are in luck, as The Cannibal has some great basekit perks that allow him to pressure Survivors by preventing their use of powerful items while keeping track of those at a distance. This build aims to keep Survivors consistently injured while tracking them down throughout the trial.

Barbecue & Chili (The Cannibal) – After hooking a Survivor, this perk will reveal the aura of all other Survivors’ further than 40 meters from the hook for four seconds.
Franklin's Demise (The Cannibal) – Basic attacks cause survivors to drop their items where their charges will regress over the next 90 seconds.
Bitter Murmur (General Perk) – Each time a generator is completed, the auras of Survivors within 16 meters of that generator are revealed for five seconds. Once the last generator is complete, all Survivors’ auras are revealed for 10 seconds,
Sloppy Butcher (General Perk) – Basic attacks cause the Mangled and Hemorrhage status ailments, slowing down healing by 25% and regressing healing progress when left unfinished.

The Cannibal: Best Build (2024)

For Survivors with a greater number of teachable perks at their disposal, Leatherface can become even more ferocious while in pursuit, cutting off invaluable resources for Survivors and ending chases sooner. This build blocks windows and slows generator progression to give The Cannibal more time to down Survivors.

Bamboozle (The Clown) – Vault speed is increased by 15% and performing a vault will block the window for 16 seconds.
Corrupt Intervention (The Plague) – At the start of the trial, the 3 generators furthest from the killer's starting location are blocked for 120 seconds or until the first survivor is downed.
Deadlock (The Cenobite) – After a generator is repaired, the generator with the most progress is blocked for 30 seconds.
No Way Out (The Trickster) – At the end of the trial when a survivor interacts with an exit gate, users will receive a noise notification, and the exit gates will be blocked for 12 seconds, plus another 12 seconds for each survivor hooked.

The Cannibal: Best Add-Ons

Chainsaw File

While The Cannibal’s Common Add-Ons aren’t particularly impactful, the Chainsaw File can help reduce the penalty for bumping into objects during Chainsaw Sweep.

Homemade Muffler

A stronger version of the Chainsaw File, if you find yourself bumping into things often, the Homemade Muffler Add-On reduces Bubba’s tantrum duration by 1 second.

Chili

This Uncommon Add-On is arguably one of Leatherface’s most powerful, as it extends their Chainsaw Sweep by nearly a second, which can go a long way to securing downs at a slightly increased distance.

The Beast’s Marks

Another popular Cannibal Add-On, The Beast’s Marks increase Chainsaw charge speed but also increase movement speed by 3%. While fundamentally changing their Chainsaw timings, that extra movement speed goes a long way to catching Survivors off guard.

Grisly Chain

Simple, but effective, the Grisly Chain inflicts Manged for 70 seconds on Survivors hit by the Chainsaw. While they’re likely to spend most of this time on a hook, this Add-On will punish Survivors who try to heal soon after being unhooked.

Rusted Chain

An improved version of the Grisly Chain, the Rusted Chain inflicts Broken for 90 seconds on Survivors hit by the Chainsaw. This will prevent Survivors from healing altogether for the duration of its effects.

Light Chassis

An aura-reading Add-On, the Light Chassis reveals the location of Survivors within 8 meters while revving the Chainsaw. This will allow you to better predict a Survivor’s movements behind walls before you close the distance with a Chainsaw Sweep.

Award-Winning Chili

Often paired with the Uncommon Chili, many argue that the Award-Winning Chili Add-On is The Cannibal’s strongest. This power modifier increases his maximum Chainsaw Sweep duration by up to 1.5 seconds, allowing you to cover more distance while in power.

Iridescent Flesh

Perfect for those stronger Dead by Daylight Killers who aim to achieve multiple downs in a single use of their power, the Iridescent Flesh fully recharges Bubba’s Chainsaw charges upon hitting a Survivor. This gives Leatherface free rein to cut through a group of Survivors in a matter of seconds.
