As lethal as he is fast, Dead by Daylight’s experimental scientist, The Blight, needs few perks for the more experienced among his players. Capable of performing deadly dashes covering the immense ground, The Blight can simultaneously hamper generator progress and achieve quick downs for those with mastery of his mechanics. Nevertheless, certain perks can make a formidable foe even more fearsome in Dead by Daylight.
This guide will show off the best builds specifically tailored to The Blight and his playstyle. These builds will include the best perks, both teachable and non-teachable, to not exclude players without access to other Killers.
Updated on October 10th, 2023, by Lewis Smyth: With a host of new and updated perks to play with, 2023 has brought some big changes to Dead by Daylight. In removing the notorious generator-kicking perks that dominated last year's meta, Dead by Daylight's new builds revolve around slowing generator progress with each new hooked Survivor. This article update aims to reflect these changes with new builds for The Blight.
The Blight: Best Non-Teachable Build
The Blight is a great character for Dead by Daylight newcomers to unlock, especially those looking to play around with Hex Totem builds. The Blight has two fantastic Hex perks that help control the map and slow down cleansing, both of which are included in the following build:
- Hex: Blood Favor (The Blight) – Injuring a survivor blocks all pallets from being pulled down within a 32–meter radius for 15 seconds.
- Hex: Undying (The Blight) – Once per trial, when a Hex Totem is cleansed, the effect of that Hex is transferred to another Totem. Furthermore, survivors standing within 4 meters of a Dull Totem have their auras revealed.
- Jolt (General Perk) – Downing a Survivor causes all generators within a 32–meter radius to lose 8% progress.
- Hex: No One Escapes Death (General Perk) – After the final generator is completed, all survivors suffer from the Exposed status ailment, and users gain a 4% Haste effect until the Hex Totem is cleansed.
The Blight: Best Build
Capable of traversing most Dead by Daylight realms with ease, The Blight is a master of map control. With this build, The Blight can see anyone further than 40 meters from him upon hooking a Survivor, all the while enforcing slowdown on generators with aggressive regression perks.
- Lethal Pursuer (The Nemesis) – At the start of the trial, all survivor's auras are revealed for 9 seconds. This perk also increases the duration of other aura–reading abilities by an extra 2 seconds.
- Barbecue & Chili (The Cannibal) – After hooking a Survivor, this perk will reveal the aura of all other Survivors’ further than 40 meters from the hook for 5 seconds.
- Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist) – The Killer starts with four tokens. For each different Survivor hooked on a white Scourge Hook, lose one token and explode the generator with the most progress, causing it to lose 25% of progress.
- Pop Goes the Weasel (The Clown) – After hooking a Survivor, kicking a generator in the next 45 seconds will remove 30% of its current progression.
Dead by Daylight is currently available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
