Arriving with the All-Kill DLC chapter, Ji-Woon Hak is Dead by Daylight’s answer to the K-Pop craze that has dominated popular culture over the last few years. A Killer with a drive to be in the spotlight, The Trickster uses his showstopping blades to put an end to anyone trying to take center stage. Luckily, The Trickster needs only a few perks to make his abilities truly shine in Dead by Daylight.

Dead By Daylight: Every Survivor, Ranked

Each one of Dead by Daylight's Survivors has unique Perks that give them an edge against the Killers, but some are better than others.

This guide will showcase the best builds to run with The Trickster that can help accentuate his powers in even the most Survivor-sided situations. These builds will incorporate both non-teachable and teachable perks, ensuring that players without the cash to spare can still have fun with this K-Pop Killer.

Updated on August 1, 2024, by Lewis Smyth: The Trickster has received some significant changes in 2024 that fundamentally alter the speed of his power. With these new builds and the best add-on list, players will be better equipped to kill as many Survivors as possible.

The Trickster: Best Beginner Build (2024)

The Trickster has a few base perks that can make the Endgame especially deadly for Survivors by blocking their way out for each Survivor hooked. This build emphasizes stalling and quickly downing Dead by Daylight's unfortunate Survivors until the exit gates are powered, at which point The Trickster can reveal the ace up his sleeve.

  • No Way Out (The Trickster) – When a Survivor interacts with an exit gate at the end of the trial, the Killer will receive a noise notification, and the exit gates will be blocked for 12 seconds, plus another 12 seconds for each new Survivor hooked.
  • Hex: Crowd Control (The Trickster) – For as long as the Hex Totem stands, any rushed vault a Survivor performs causes the vault location to block for 60 seconds.
  • Bitter Murmur (General Perk) – Each time a generator is completed, the auras of Survivors within 16 meters of that generator are revealed for 5 seconds. Once the last generator is complete, all Survivors’ auras are revealed for 10 seconds.
  • Hex: No One Escapes Death (General Perk) – After the final generator is completed, all Survivors suffer from the Exposed status ailment, and you gain a 4% Haste effect until the Hex Totem is cleansed.

The Trickster: Best Build (2024)

The Trickster kills best when uninterrupted by obstructions in the environment, and — while he can be fast on his feet — the speed at which he can injure Survivors can often be impeded. This build revolves around using powerful regression perks like The Clown's Pop Goes the Weasel alongside The Plague's Corrupt Intervention to slow down the early game.

  • Corrupt Intervention (The Plague) – At the start of the trial, the 3 generators furthest from the Killer's starting location are blocked for 120 seconds or until the first Survivor is downed.
  • Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist) – The Killer starts with four tokens. For each different Survivor hooked on a white Scourge Hook, lose one token and explode the generator with the most progress, causing it to lose 20% of its progress.
  • Pop Goes the Weasel (The Clown) – 45 seconds after hooking a Survivor, damaging a generator will remove 20% of its current progress.
  • No Way Out (The Trickster) – When a Survivor interacts with an exit gate at the end of the trial, the Killer will receive a noise notification and the exit gates will be blocked for 12 seconds, plus another 12 seconds for each new Survivor hooked.

Dead By Daylight: The Best Survivor Perks

There are more than 100 perks for Survivors in Dead By Daylight and each has its own roles and niche uses in the game.

The Trickster: Best Add-Ons

The Trickster’s Add-Ons are a diverse group, ranging from completely niche and useless to reliable and impactful. His Ultra Rare Add-Ons aren’t necessarily the strongest, however. This guide will highlight the best Trickster Add-Ons (in order of rarity).

Memento Blades

To more efficiently injure Survivors and build up their Laceration Meter, the Memento Blades provide consistent and impactful value by speeding up your Blade throw rate by 10%.

Inferno Wires

dead by daylight the trickster inferno wires addon

Main Event triggers much more often since The Trickster’s buff. Now, Main Event can be activated once per chase, meaning the Inferno Wires' extended duration is far more valuable.

Tequila Moonrock

dead by daylight the trickster tequila moonrock addon

A higher rarity of the Inferno Wires; by extending the duration of Main Event, Tequila Moonrock can ensure Survivors are forced down by the onslaught of Blades.

Lucky Blade

dead by daylight the trickster lucky blade addon

Though Tequila Moonrock and the Inferno Wires provide more consistent Main Event value, the Lucky Blade Showstopper Add-On can still prove to be a powerful addition to your kit. The extended duration of this add-on is most keenly felt when attacking groups of Survivors with Main Event — particularly those engaging in altruistic plays.

Caged Heart Shoes

Since The Trickster is slowed down slightly while throwing his Blades, Survivors’ best course of action is to break line-of-sight and hold their distance. With the Caged Heart Shoes, this is somewhat less easily achieved as you bear down on them faster and pummel them with attacks.

Waiting For You Watch

An upgrade to the Lucky Blade, the Waiting for You Watch Add-On can similarly punish grouped Survivors with a theoretically infinite Main Event.

Trick Blades

The Trick Blades are a more complex add-on that requires a different approach to The Trickster. By creating a ricochet effect on Blades, players who know their angles can effectively hit Survivors around loops. Obviously, this has a much greater impact on indoor maps, but in the hands of an adept, the Trick Blades can make otherwise safe loops dangerous to even the most proficient loopers.

dead by daylight the trickster diamond cufflinks addon

Seeing the auras of Survivors is almost always a boon to a Killer, as it allows them to more easily predict movements and mind game. The Diamond Cufflinks reveal the auras of Survivors one Blade hit away from injury for 6 seconds; not always a useful effect, but certainly not worthless.

Iridescent Photocard

dead by daylight the trickster iridescent photocard addon

The Iridescent Photocard, while not as dependently valuable as Tequila Moonrock or the Memento Blades, still provides great value to the most ambitious and accurate Trickster players. By gaining a stackable Haste boost per Blade hit, The Trickster can barrel down on Survivors and stay right on their backs, denying them any distance and preventing them from dodging hits.
