Among the Killers of Dead by Daylight, The Pig is unique in being one of the first to have a slowdown mechanic built into her base kit. Using her Saw-inspired Reverse Bear Traps, The Pig can incapacitate teammates for minutes at a time as they attempt to evade an instant death, making her one of the most effective slowdown Killers in Dead by Daylight.

The Pig’s deficiencies come to light in chase, however, as she remains a Killer with no reliable anti-loop. This guide will seek to build upon this Killer's flaws with a selection of the best perks to run on The Pig in Dead by Daylight. The Pig: Best Beginner Build (2024)

For players without access to the plethora of Killers and their perks in Dead by Daylight, there are a select few perks that can come in handy. This build incorporates Surveillance, which allows the Killer to keep track of regressing generators, along with passive slowdown perks like Sloppy Butcher to keep Survivors pressured until the Endgame Collapse. Make Your Choice keeps Survivors who unhook pressured, while Hex: No One Escapes Death debilitates them in Endgame.

Surveillance (The Pig) – Any regressing generator will be highlighted in white. If the generator begins to be worked on, it will be highlighted in yellow for the next 16 seconds. Generator repair noises are made audible by an additional 8 meters.
Make Your Choice (The Pig) – When a Survivor unhooks someone from at least 32 meters away, they scream and become Exposed for 60 seconds. This perk has a 60-second cooldown.
Hex: No One Escapes Death (General Perk) – After the final generator is completed, all Survivors suffer from the Exposed status ailment and you gain a 4% Haste effect until the Hex Totem is cleansed.
Sloppy Butcher (General Perk) – Basic attacks inflict the Mangled and Hemorrhage status ailments for 90 seconds, slowing down healing by 25% and regressing healing progress when left unfinished.

The Pig: Best Build (2024)

Arguably the best build to run with The Pig makes use of The Twin's Coup de Grâce to cut down chase times while slowing generator progress with Corrupt Intervention and Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance. Hex: Plaything will make recently hooked and Reverse Bear Trapped Survivors Oblivious to your presence, putting them at even greater risk of being found as they scramble to search through Jigsaw Boxes.

Corrupt Intervention (The Plague) – At the start of the trial, the 3 generators furthest from the Killer's starting location are blocked for 120 seconds or until the first Survivor is downed.
Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist) – The Killer starts with four tokens. For each different Survivor hooked on a white Scourge Hook, lose one token and explode the generator with the most progress, causing it to lose 25% of its progress.
Hex: Plaything (The Cenobite) – Upon hooking a Survivor for the first time a random Dull Totem on the map will become a Hex Totem, cursing the Survivor with the Oblivious status ailment until cleansed.
Coup de Grâce (The Twins) – For each generator completed, this perk gains two tokens. Use one token to increase lunge attack distance by 80%.

The Pig: Best Add-Ons

While many of The Pig’s Add-Ons are among the better balanced Add-Ons in Dead by Daylight, certain choices stand out among the others as her best. This part of the guide highlights Amanda Young’s strongest add-ons, sorted by rarity.

John’s Medical File

The Pig’s Crouch can catch some Survivors off-guard as they focus on other objectives. John’s Medical File allows you to move slightly faster while crouched, giving you greater map coverage in stealth.

Combat Straps

Nice to pair with John’s Medical File, the Combat Straps increase crouching and uncrouching speeds by 10% enabling you to engage with Survivors from stealth more quickly.

Workshop Grease

Since the buff to The Pig’s Ambush attack, it’s far less risky to use the ability in chase to potentially land a hit on weaker Dead by Daylight loops. The Workshop Grease vastly increases how fast you can begin your Ambush, throwing off Survivors and potentially securing you a hit.

Last Will

Commonly paired with the Workshop Grease, the Last Will similarly increases Ambush charge time while also increasing Ambush movement speed, making you just that much more likely to hit an Ambush attack mid-chase.

Face Mask

By Blinding Survivors with Reverse Bear Traps with the Face Mask, you can completely disorient them and deny them the chance to unhook others or heal their downed friends. Though mostly effective once you’ve already established pressure by removing a Survivor from the trial or having multiple Reverse Bear Traps active at a time, the Face Mask is, nonetheless, a powerful Uncommon Add-On.

Rule Set No.2

For the risk of a Reverse Bear Trap killing a Survivor, it helps to have it activated before it can be removed. To increase the chances of a Trap triggering, Rule Set No.2 prevents Survivors from seeing the aura of Jigsaw Boxes until their Trap is active.

Jigsaw’s Annotated Plan

The Pig’s slowdown is limited by the four Reverse Bear Traps she takes into a trial. Jigsaw’s Annotated Plan increases this number to 5, at the cost of giving Survivors an extra 10 seconds to disarm their active Traps. Conversely, if a generator is completed while a Bear Trap is active, that Trap has 10 seconds removed from the timer, though this rarely comes into play.

Bag Of Gears

By default, it takes 12 seconds for a Survivor to search a Jigsaw Box. The Bag of Gears merely increases this time by 17% while increasing Trap setting speed by 50%. This can greatly increase the average time it takes to remove the traps and give you more time to interrupt Survivors’ searches.

Tampered Timer

Once activated, Survivors have 150 seconds to remove their Reverse Bear Traps. The Tampered Timer reduces this time by 20 seconds.

Jigsaw’s Sketch

Like Jigsaw’s Annotated Plan, Jigsaw’s Sketch increases the number of Reverse Bear Traps by one. Doubling as a useful aura reading add-on, whenever a Trapped Survivor is working on a generator – though rarely will this be the case – that generator's aura is highlighted in yellow.

Crate Of Gears

Working best in tandem with the Tampered Timer, the Crate of Gears is an upgraded Bag of Gears, increasing Trap setting speed and considerably increasing the time required to search Jigsaw Boxes. These two add-ons combined provide the greatest chance of killing a Survivor with a Reverse Bear Trap, provided players apply enough pressure to them as they search to remove it.

Video Tape

Synergizing well with Jigsaw’s Sketch or Rule Set No.2, the Ultra Rare Video Tape for Jigsaw’s Baptism forces all Survivors to begin the trial with Reverse Bear Traps installed. This forces Survivors to waste plenty of time in the early game searching through Jigsaw Boxes lest they activate after the first generator pops, guaranteeing maximum Trap value. This is best paired with perks like Lethal Pursuer and Corrupt Intervention to establish early-game pressure.
