Springtrap is the headlining killer of Dead by Daylight's Five Nights at Freddy's Chapter, and he's one of the coolest characters the game has seen to date. Springtrap's kit gives him incredible mobility and map control, and you can really mess with Dead by Daylight survivors while they're trying to repair generators and secure their escape.
Springtrap's abilities are strong enough on their own, but you can make him even stronger with perks and add-ons that enhance his powers even further. Some of Springtrap's best add-ons are low rarity, so you won't have to spend too many Bloodpoints in the Bloodweb. He makes great use of some other killer's perks, too, so veteran Dead by Daylight players should have plenty of tools in their arsenal for The Animatronic.
Dead by Daylight Devs Highlight Upcoming Plans
The Best War Games speaks with Behaviour Interactive about the team's plans for Dead by Daylight, including allowing players to help design a new Killer.
Best Dead by Daylight Springtrap Build
These are the best perks and add-ons to use with Springtrap in Dead by Daylight.
- Add-On: Help Wanted Ad
- Add-On: Streamers
- Perk: Phantom Fear
- Perk: Distressing
- Perk: Sloppy Butcher
- Perk: Surveillance (The Pig)
Outside of his ridiculously strong rare add-ons (which let him throw his axe across the map through security doors or grant his axe a gigantic Terror Radius of its own), Springtrap's more common add-ons are still quite transformative for his basic gameplay loop.
The Help Wanted Ad add-on shows the trajectory of axe throws so you don't have to worry about aiming, and this is exceptionally helpful for chases where you don't have time to line things up. The Streamers add-on just makes Springtrap travel through security doors 20% faster, but since you'll spend a lot of time teleporting across the map with these doors, every second counts.
Phantom Fear is one of The Animatronic's unique perks, and it causes survivors to scream and have their auras revealed when they look at Springtrap while inside his Terror Radius. Combined with the Distressing perk — which increases Springtrap's Terror Radius by 20% — you'll constantly hear screams and mark survivors despite Phantom Fear's lengthy 60-second cooldown.
Since Springtrap is such an aggressive killer, Sloppy Butcher i s a great fit for him as well. It's a Dead by Daylight mainstay, causing basic attacks to inflict Hemorrhage and Mangled. It makes it much harder for survivors to heal, and since you'll be landing axe trick shots all the time because of the Help Wanted add-on's aim assist, it's an especially oppressive perk for The Animatronic. Survivors will leave behind more prominent blood trails, too, so you can track them down more easily.
Finally, the Surveillance perk (unlocked with The Pig killer from the Saw Chapter) is a great fit for Springtrap because of his exceptional mobility. This perk highlights regressing generators damaged by Springtrap with a white aura. When the regression is interrupted and a survivor begins repairs, that generator's aura will turn yellow. Since Springtrap can use security doors to teleport around the map, you can surprise a survivor working on a generator within seconds.
Dead by Daylight players will surely adapt to Springtrap's abilities as time goes on, but the core tenants of his playstyle become so much stronger with these perks and add-ons. This build transforms Springtrap into a ridiculously annoying killer that reveals survivors regularly and locks down generators in different corners of the map. You'll be able to zoom through security doors and embed your axe within survivors if they escape your melee range, and your perks will make it super easy to track them down for the killing blow or reposition with the help of a security door.
