Dead by Daylight has announced the return of a fan-favorite game mode modifier, Lights Out. The return of the game mode brings a few new changes to the Dead by Daylight modifier, along with a Castlevania-inspired theme and collection.
Dead by Daylight has added a variety of game modes for players to enjoy since the title was initially released in 2016. Lights Out was the first modifier that was added to Dead by Daylight, with the haunting addition plunging the game into almost total darkness. The game modifier also removes the survivor's scratch marks and the killer's terror radius and cuts out a majority of the game's UI elements. The mode was well received by fans of Dead by Daylight and is now making a return to the game.
The Lights Out game mode is currently available in Dead by Daylight and maintains many of the same mechanics as its prior appearance. This iteration of the Lights Out modifier still throws the entire world into darkness, but the developers have added some new updates and mechanics to improve the game mode. Survivors now start with a new item, the lantern, which increases visibility, reveals nearby generators, and displays actions on the HUD. Alongside this, six maps are now available in the map pool as opposed to the original four that were playable in the first version of Lights Out.
Dead by Daylight Makes Changes to Lights Out Modifier
Some additional changes have also been added to this version of Lights Out in Dead by Daylight. Chests now guarantee rare or better items for survivors, and survivors now drop their carried items when they are hit. Alongside that, generators now have faster repair speeds in addition to starting with 5% progress already completed. Survivors also have increased endurance after getting unhooked, giving them more time before they can be downed by the killer again. These changes aim to make the game mode more enjoyable and accessible.
The addition of this game mode to Dead by Daylight also comes with a Castlevania collection and exclusive rewards. This collection includes two new outfits for Mikaela Reid and Kate Denson inspired by Sypha Belnades and Maria Renard from the Castlevania series. The Lights Out game mode also has exclusive rewards for players, including a Gothic Lantern charm, a Pixel Dark Lord badge, and a Dracula's Castle banner. The Lights Out modifier is available in Dead by Daylight until September 19th.
