Chucky is Dead by Daylight's newest killer, and one of its most unique, so he comes with his own brand of strategies to employ. He occupies a niche that no other killer in Dead by Daylight does due to his specific mechanics, so matches against him require survivors to think differently. Likewise, playing as Chucky feels different from most other killers on a fundamental level, since he has arguably one of the most distinctive approaches to gameplay since The Twins were released. Chucky's unusual nature doesn't make him any less dangerous that Dead by Daylight's other killers, though.
It was a surprise to see Chucky come to Dead by Daylight for some, since his doll-like stature was widely thought to be an obstacle for him. Thankfully, the developers came up with the idea to have the spirit form of Chucky's human body carry Survivors for him, so the game was able to add yet another horror icon. While it's still likely too early to gauge how powerful Chucky truly is in the grand scheme of the game, there is still ample time to learn his various strategies. There's a good chance that this doll could be as terrifying as killers several times his size.
Victor of The Twins is also around Chucky's size, but he only counts as Charlotte's power rather than a proper killer.
Chucky is as Skilled as He Is Rude in Dead by Daylight
Tracking Perks Make Chucky a Relentless Hunter
While his third-person view helps Chucky break tradition for Dead by Daylight's killers, his actual power is what makes him a threat. Slice & Dice and Scamper combine to make him a frighteningly effective chaser, especially since they activate from his stealthy Hidey-Ho Mode. Combining this with map knowledge and information perks can make Chucky into a terrifyingly effective ambusher. Combined with tracking perks like Discordance and A Nurse's Calling, as well as Chucky's own Mirror Shards add-on, he can track down and strike survivors with ruthless efficiency. Chucky's kit gives him what it takes to be an effective assassin in Dead by Daylight.
Players Can Use Chucky's Natural Stealth to Their Advantage
Chucky has qualities that give him the makings of a potentially powerful stealth killer in Dead by Daylight as well. While Hidey-Ho Mode makes him Undetectable and creates false footsteps to confuse Survivors, Chucky's naturally small size makes him hard to see without the red stain. As a result, Undetectable and Oblivious are even more powerful on him than most killers. Perks like Tinkerer, Trail of Torment, and Hex: Plaything can give Chucky an unprecedented ability to move around unseen. Killers like Ghostface and Wraith make heavy use of stealth, but Chucky may be able to beat them at their own game.
Chucky Has a Unique Mindgame with Dropped Pallets
There is one key advantage that Chucky has over other killers, and it involved pallets. As previously mentioned, playing Chucky in Dead by Daylight grants players the Scamper ability, letting his quickly run under pallets. For this reason, it may be a good strategy to refrain from destroying every pallet after they get dropped. While Survivorss can be alerted by Chucky's yell during Slice & Dice, the pallets could give them a false sense of security, making them a fairly decent mindgame to use. It's not a strategy that's guaranteed to work, but there are few killers that can get value out of pallets like Chucky.
Chucky has a lot of tricks at his disposal, and while it may be too early to tell if he is one of Dead by Daylight's best killers, he'll certainly be a problem for Survivors. His kit is solid on its own, with plenty of synergies that can amplify his existing strengths. It will be interesting to see how strategies are developed in the coming weeks, especially after the initial rush of new Chucky players wears off. Among Dead by Daylight's Killers, Chucky easily has a style all his own.
