Dead by Daylight has revealed more details about its new terrifying Killer, Springtrap from Five Nights at Freddy's. The collaboration brings FNAF's horror to life, as Dead by Daylight characters have to navigate and survive the new Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria map.
Across multiple mainline and spin-off games, Five Nights at Freddy's has many possible antagonists that Dead by Daylight could put under the spotlight. However, the dev team saw an opportunity to make Springtrap the terrifying new Dead by Daylight Killer for this collaboration, especially because of his role in the larger FNAF lore. Springtrap is a yellow animatronic bunny with the mummified remains of FNAF's villain, William Afton, inside. Players originally face off against the horrifying bunny in the third FNAF game, but his presence and influence are always felt in every iteration of the Fazbear pizza chain.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is Crossing Over With Dead by Daylight
Assassin's Creed Shadows surprises fans by announcing that it will soon be crossing over with the popular horror game Dead by Daylight.
In Dead by Daylight, Springtrap specializes in surveillance, pursuit, and terrorizing Survivors with his large pizza knife and fire axe. The latter weapon functions as his Power, which creates an AOE that reveals Survivors in the area when it's thrown on the map. If a Survivor is hit with Springtrap's axe, they'll be forced to remove it themselves or ask their ally to remove it before the Killer catches up to them. But if the Killer tries to remove the axe, the iconic FNAF animatronic jump scare will be triggered, ending with the player being taken to the hook to be murdered.
Dead by Daylight Makes Springtrap Even More Terrifying
Upon the release of the Dead by Daylight x Five Nights at Freddy's Chapter on June 17, 2025, Springtrap will also receive various skins, including the "Yellow Rabbit Legendary Outfit" inspired by the live-action FNAF movie. It will feature the likeness of Matthew Lillard (who plays William Afton in the movie) and original voice lines recorded just for the game. Additionally, players can use the "Glitchtrap Legendary Outfit" from Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted and two Very Rare Outfits, including the Clown Springtrap and Toxic Springtrap.
Bringing FNAF's Security Features to Dead by Daylight
Of course, it wouldn't be a Five Nights at Freddy's experience without security cameras and doors. The new Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria location will feature the infamous Security Office that both Survivors and the Killer can pass through to teleport to any other door on the map. If they cross paths with each other, players can expect a jump scare and instantly get taken by the Killer. Likewise, security cameras can be used to keep an eye on Springtrap's movements to help Survivors decide on what to do next.
Dead by Daylight is no stranger to cool and scary crossovers. In the past, it featured horror Killers, like Ghostface from the Scream franchise and The Pig from the Saw saga. It also got creative by featuring other iconic characters like Pyramid Head, Chucky, and even Sadako. Soon, Springtrap will be joining the Killers' Hall of Fame, bringing his brand of animatronic terror to the game.
