At long last, Dead by Daylight's collaboration with Tokyo Ghoul has officially put up a green light for anime chapters in the future. So far, no other anime crossovers in Dead by Daylight have been announced. However, the arrival of Ken Kaneki could be a massive game changer for what else the game can offer. Previously, there seemed to be more guardrails on what players could expect from the game. However, little by little, those horizons have been expanding. With the Tokyo Ghoul chapter, Dead by Daylight has a lot of new potential Survivors and Killers to choose from.
The Tokyo Ghoul crossover in Dead by Daylight will be bringing series protagonist Ken Kaneki to the Fog. While Ken was a hero in his own world, Dead by Daylight will be seeing a version of him that gave into bloodlust and hunger, becoming a ravenous ghoul who is happy to serve the Entity. In addition to Ken, there will also be a few Survivor outfits based on various characters from Tokyo Ghoul, as well as Rize Kamishiro as a Legendary skin for Ken. Even though a new Survivor isn't coming from the Tokyo Ghoul collaboration, players are getting plenty of content regardless.
What Would Another Resident Evil x Dead by Daylight Crossover Look Like?
Dead by Daylight's two Resident Evil chapters are widely regarded to be some of its best, and there's plenty of material left for a third DLC.
Tokyo Ghoul Could Herald More Anime Characters in Dead by Daylight's Future
The Junji Ito Collection Added Manga Horror to Dead by Daylight
A few months ago, the Junji Ito collection in Dead by Daylight was released. This collection featured several skins based on some of Ito's most iconic characters and stories. Thanks to this crossover, characters like Tomie, Sochi, and Miss Fuchi can now scare Dead by Daylight players as much as they have manga readers. Of course, it only seems natural that a horror icon like Junji Ito would eventually find his way to gaming's biggest horror crossover. However, while the Junji Ito collection brought plenty of great skins, the Tokyo Ghoul chapter is taking the next step by introducing a brand-new killer to the roster.
Dead by Daylight previously featured an Attack on Titan collection, but the skins are no longer available to buy in-game.
Tokyo Ghoul Joining Dead by Daylight Makes Perfect Sense
Tokyo Ghoul's Ken Kaneki was a perfect first anime representative, considering Dead by Daylight's many horror collaborations. After all, Dead by Daylight is built on horror, and has most of the genre's biggest icons among its roster. Even though Tokyo Ghoul is a show with a lot of action, it still lands precisely in the horror genre as well with its disturbing themes and violent scenes. It's far from the only horror anime on the market, too. Now that Tokyo Ghoul has made it into Dead by Daylight, it's anyone's guess as to what anime could get the next invitation to the Fog.
Dead by Daylight May Seek Out More Than Horror Anime
The pool of possibilities doesn't stop with strictly horror anime either. After all, Lara Croft's debut in Dead by Daylight showed that more genres were eligible to provide new Survivors and Killers. Almost any hero intrepid enough or villain terrifying enough could potentially end up in Dead by Daylight as long as the owners of the IP agree to let them into the game. Considering how many prominent anime could meet that criteria, the number of potential additions to Dead by Daylight's roster has skyrocketed. From Parasyte to Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, countless anime characters could turn up in Dead by Daylight next.
Tokyo Ghoul will hopefully blaze a trail forward for Dead by Daylight's future crossovers. Between this collaboration and the fact that Five Nights at Freddy's joins Dead by Daylight in a few months, it's clear that Behavior is expanding their horizons. With Tokyo Ghoul coming to the game, there's plenty of room for some of anime's most fearsome creations to find a way to wreak havoc in The Entity's playground. Tokyo Ghoul's Ken Kaneki may share Dead by Daylight with some other anime crossovers before too long.
