On July 25, players will be able to experience asymmetric survivor horror title Dead by Daylight like they never have before. First teased during the Anniversary livestream earlier in 2024, the long-awaited 2v8 mode is finally coming to Dead by Daylight. In this new twist on the classic survival format, a team of eight survivors will need to take on two killers working together in tandem to sacrifice as many of them as possible to the dread Entity.

2v8 mode will debut in Dead by Daylight beginning on July 25 and will remain available through August 8. Players will be able to choose between all currently available survivors, five killers, and five size-adjusted maps. Following the limited run, the team at Behavior Interactive will use player feedback to continue adjusting and improving the gameplay mode. Dead by Daylight head of production Stefan Beauchamp confirmed that the team's ultimate goal is to make 2v8 mode a permanent part of Dead by Daylight in the future.

Dead by Daylight's latest pop-culture crossovers bring Vecna and Lara Croft to the table, and they could begin a new trend for the game.

Beauchamp described the highly anticipated new game mode as "really focused on the fun and chaos of ten players in action at the same time." Killer powers have been adjusted, hooks replaced with cages in which survivors can be imprisoned, and survivor perks have been switched out for four classes which players can select at the beginning of the game. These classes allow players to focus more specifically on one role within the team: repairing generators, healing, escaping, or hiding and tracking the killer.

Dead by Daylight's 2v8 Killers

While all survivors will be available in the limited version of 2v8 mode, players will have five killers to select from:

  • Trapper
  • The Wraith
  • The Hillbilly
  • The Huntress
  • The Nurse

DbD 2v8 Maps and Team Powers

Each killer has been given new Team Powers that either boost their teammates or enhance their own abilities when near their fellow killer. There will also be five maps available during 2v8 mode's first limited availability: Azarov's Resting Place, the Suffocation Pit, the Disturbed Ward, the Thompson House, and Mother's Dwelling. All maps have been made larger to accommodate the chaotic new mode.

2024 has been an exciting year for Dead by Daylight, with the addition of new licensed killer Vecna, new licensed survivor Lara Croft, spin-off free-to-play party game What the Fog, and much more. The upcoming trial of 2v8 mode promises to be yet another exciting development for the ever-growing fog-bound world of Dead by Daylight. With more killers on the loose and more survivors banding together than ever before, players can try out this unique new mode when it officially launches on July 25.
