Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster has been improved for the PS5 Pro, introducing enhanced ray tracing to the title. The recent Dead Rising remaster has seen a pretty positive reception from both gamers and critics alike, obtaining an average score of 80 on OpenCritic, and the recent PS5 Pro update makes the game even better.
Announced earlier this year, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster was released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in September 2024. The game is an enhanced version of the original Dead Rising, which was released in 2006 for the Xbox 360, spawning three sequels in ten years. In the title, gamers step into the shoes of the photojournalist Frank West, who is trapped in a mall infested with zombies and has to fight for his survival.

Now, the creators of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster have released the PS5 Pro update for the game. In a Twitter post, the team revealed that the new version of the popular zombie-slaying game comes with enhanced ray tracing, which has greatly improved its graphics. The creators also demonstrated the difference by showcasing two images in which the protagonist could be seen in front of the same glass wall. Compared to the original version, the new ray tracing-enhanced version has a perfect reflection, showing even small details in the scene. While the release of the PS5 Pro has been controversial due to the high price of Sony’s mid-gen console, these improvements show just how powerful the console can be.

Gamers who play Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster on other platforms will not miss out on some of the title's other impressive features, though. For instance, the Dead Rising remaster has two control schemes, allowing players to either use the original 2006 controls or modern ones. Also, it comes with an auto-save functionality that makes the experience easier to play for people who don’t want to constantly save their game when running into danger.
While opinions on the Dead Rising remaster are mostly positive, the port was not released without any controversy. A few months ago, Capcom revealed that Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster would no longer reward players for taking “erotic” photos. In the 2006 version of the game, players could get awards for taking photos of both living and zombified women, but these shots are no longer rewarded in the current version. No official explanation was given as to why the feature was removed, and while it caused some controversy with fans of the original, it didn't seem to impact the overall opinion about the remaster.
