Deadlock weaved an intricate MOBA experience consisting of several combat mechanics aside from an extensive hero roster and itemization. For instance, parry is a defense skill one must learn to counter melees, which can be otherwise lethal in the early-game fights. Especially against Abrams, who is a close-range brawler, parrying him is the only way to shut him down. Hence, refer to this guide to learn how to parry in Deadlock.

Deadlock Mid Boss Explained (& How to Beat It)

The Mid Boss is a giant neutral troop that spawns in the middle of the map. Here's everything you need to know to beat it and claim its powerful buff.

How to Parry Opponents In Deadlock

In Deadlock, parrying is no rocket science but a fundamental skill that lets you counter melee attacks. Press F to parry an enemy while they are about to punch to stun them for a few seconds. With this crowd control effect, the target will be knocked down and take increased melee damage, so you can use this opportunity to deliver a few free hits.

Players often find it difficult to master parrying in other video games, but Deadlock offers a visual indication and some forgiveness for using the mechanic. Upon activating the parry, your character will acquire a blue shield with a hue of the same color surrounding their body for a few seconds. During this time, opponents, minions, and even the mid boss will be stunned if they launch a melee attack.

Parry does not work on bullets, projectiles, or any ability outside melee.

Minions tend to swing at a hero if they get too close, but their attacks aren't difficult to detect. However, identifying when an opponent is about to punch could make a big difference. Since melees are short-ranged, they will try to close in on you. Hence, the key to a successful parry is to read the surroundings.

Besides, heavy melees have a noticeable charging animation, making them easier to detect. As such, press the F button whenever you see an enemy winding up for a punch. Deadlock heroes like Abrams have the knack of brawling their way to victory, and parrying is a way to counter them. Failing to parry will cause the skill to undergo a five-second cooldown indicated by a red fist symbol beside the stamina bar. You can reactivate the ability once the marker is gone. Hence, spamming isn't an option.

How to Tackle Parry In Deadlock

Haze using Unstoppable in Deadlock

Using melee against players who can parry could be risky, until you learn how to avoid it altogether. The key here is to flick the mouse away from the target to quickly change the direction of the punch if they activate the parry.

Deadlock items like Debuff Remover and Unstoppable are highly effective against crowd control, with the latter being active equipment that can make a hero immune from stuns for a few seconds. Just activate the Unstoppable before punching a target to avoid getting parried.
