Like the original game, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach features a smaller opening region that acts as a tutorial area, where Sam can learn the ropes and get a handle on what the job is this time around. In DS2, that region is the entire country of Mexico. While it pales in comparison to the massive Australian landscape where the bulk of the game takes place, you should not think that Mexico is not worth exploring. There are rewards that can be acquired here that will be a massive boon to Sam's journey down under. In this guide, we'll provide a complete list of every Prepper and facility in Mexico, as well as all the rewards they offer in Death Stranding 2.
Death Stranding 2: Chapter and Orders List
Death Stranding 2 features dozens of Orders and narrative Episodes. Here’s a complete list of both to help track your story progress.
All Prepper & Facility Locations in Mexico – Death Stranding 2
Complete Mexico Map:
In Mexico – Death Stranding 2's opening region – Sam will encounter a total of six locations. Four of these will be required facilities that Sam must connect to the Chiral Network in order to move the story forward, with the other two locations being optional, and easily missed. The complete list of Preppers and APAC Staff in Mexico is as follows:
- Ciudad Nudo del Norte (C1) – Norberto Puente
- Villa Libre – La Madre
- C1 South Distribution Center – Benjamin Rivera
- Former Geophysics Research Lab – Alex Weatherstone
- The Artist – Lauren Tsai
- The Bokka
A note regarding Bandwidth, APAS Enhancement Memory, and Facility Materials: When increasing your facility connection level in Death Stranding 2, you'll receive an increase to your Bandwidth – which increases the number of structures you can create in any given region – and often, an APAS Memory Increase. You'll also receive an increase in the materials to you at the specific facility. We will be listing the increase in bandwidth and APAS Memory, but not the exact materials increase.
All Ciudad Nudo del Norte (C1) Connection Rewards – Death Stranding 2
Norberto Puente is the first APAC staff member you'll meet on your journey, as Ciudad Nudo del Norte is the first location Sam must link to the Chiral Network on his initial mission to connect Mexico.

Death Stranding 2 May Be Hiding a Fun Surprise in Plain Sight
Hideo Kojima loves a good cameo, and one mysterious character in Death Stranding 2 seems like a shoo-in for a surprise appearance.

C1 South Distribution Center will be the third stop Sam makes on his trip through Mexico. After Villa Libre, you will return to Ciudad Nudo del Norte, then head west across the valley until you reach C1. There, you'll meet Benjamin Rivera, the APAC staff member in charge of receiving packages.

The Artist Location & Connection Rewards – Death Stranding 2
The Artist will likely be the first optional Prepper you encounter in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Connecting her shelter to the Chiral Network will require you to reach the C1 South Distribution Center, as we did not find any Lost Cargo for Lauren Tsai until that point. It is possible that it could have been found earlier, but that was not our experience. The Artist is an extremely interesting Prepper, who will contact you using the SSS to show Sam a series of paintings she has completed. Most of her rewards are new colors for various pieces of Sam's gear.
To find The Artist's shelter, head up the steep hill northwest of the C1 South Distribution Center. You'll find her tucked away at the top of the path, right at the edge of a cliff.

Death Stranding 2: 10 Best Perks To Unlock First, Ranked
Here are the best early perks in Death Stranding 2 to unlock first. These APAS Enhancements boost stealth, combat, cargo, and batteries.
The Bokka Location & Connection Rewards – Death Stranding 2
The Bokka rounds out the list of Preppers in DS2's Mexico map. This character has no name, only a job title. He is very similar to the Veteran Porter in Death Stranding, and embraces the Porter lifestyle wholeheartedly. It is completely worth connecting with The Bokka before you leave Mexico, if only to unlock the Trekker Boots that provide far better traction than the standard boots. You can also get the Porter Backpack Accessory from him, which is the earliest an accessory can be acquired.
The Bokka is located southwest of Ciudad Nudo del Norte. However, you will not be able to visit him until after you've connected C1 South Distribution Center. Once this occurs, you'll start finding Lost Cargo, which can be delivered to The Bokka. This will allow Sam to connect him to the Chiral Network.
