Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will carry on the story of protagonist Sam Porter Bridges 11 months after the events of the first game. With the UCA now connected, Sam will set out on another adventure that will take him into entirely new territories as he tries to save humanity once again. Set to be one of the biggest video game releases of 2025, many players will already be hotly anticipating its June 26 release. When Can You Preload Death Stranding 2?
Be Ready for the Release Date
Death Stranding 2 will be available to preload from midnight local time on June 17, 2025. When I made my preorder earlier today, the 'Preordered Game' screen said "Expected Auto-Download Date: 17/06/2025."
As long as you have this setting enabled and have preordered the game on or before June 17, your PS5 should begin automatically downloading the game onto your system. Just make sure that you have enough space on your hard drive; otherwise, the download process will be paused. I'd recommend just checking your PS5 on June 17 or June 18 to make sure that the preload has begun or finished so you're not left disappointed on release date.
The expected auto-download date stated on my PS5 is subject to change. However, there have been no indications that the preload date would have to be delayed.
What is Death Stranding 2's Install Size?
Smaller Than You Might Expect
It's expected that Death Stranding 2 will have a file size of 92.80 GB on PS5. That's according to Maxime Chao, who has access to the game ahead of release.
One thing to keep in mind is that the file size for games can fluctuate, albeit only slightly, with the release of day one patches and future updates. That being said, making sure you have at least 100 GB of space free on your PS5 storage drive should be enough to get the game installed without issue.

There are four different preorder bonuses for Death Stranding 2 with one of them being an early unlock for the Quokka Hologram. All the bonus in-game items are listed below:

Is Death Stranding 2 PS5 Exclusive?
Following the Same Path as Its Predecessor
Death Stranding 2 will be a PS5 exclusive title when it releases on June 26 (June 24 via early access). No announcement has been made on if or when the game will be released on other platforms. However, it is worth noting that the original Death Stranding did come to PC less than a year after it originally released on PS4.
While Sony Interactive Entertainment is publishing the game, Kojima Productions is not a first-party developer for PlayStation. That being said, Sony appears to be more open to releasing its titles on other platforms, as we've seen with Ghost of Tsushima and other games.
Is Death Stranding 2 Enhanced for PS5 Pro?
Looking Better Than Ever
Yes, Death Stranding 2 is PS5 Pro enhanced. However, at the time of writing, developer Kojima Studios has not shared details on what enhancements fans can expect when playing the game on the Pro console.
What we do know is that the game will have a Quality and Performance mode on the base PS5 system. The Quality mode will run at a higher resolution at 30 FPS, and the Performance mode will run at 60 FPS. The exact resolution the game will be displayed at in both modes on the base PS5 console have yet to be confirmed.
