Oftentimes, while exploring as Sam in Death Stranding 2, players will come across several bodies of water. These can be difficult to cross, mainly due to the strength of the current. Since players may be carrying a lot of cargo, losing stamina can cause Sam to lose his footing and fall, making them lose all their cargo.
Death Stranding 2: What Are Voidouts?
Voidouts are extremely deadly in Death Stranding 2, and players will need to know what they are and what happens if they manage to trigger one.
In cases like this, building a bridge is the best option—but you’ll need to unlock it first. This guide offers information on how to build a bridge and what materials are required to complete the process in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
When Do You Unlock Bridges in Death Stranding 2?
Bridges in Death Stranding 2 are not accessible from the start of the game. You must progress through the story by completing orders, and after completing Order No. 3, you will gain access to a PCC, which is the first step to building a bridge. After acquiring the blueprints for a PCC, you can fabricate it anytime you want—but hold off on that and continue completing more orders. During the sixth order, players will have to fight off a Giant BT, after which they can return to the distribution centre, where an NPC will inform them that generators and bridges can now be built.
A generator is a structure you can build to charge the battery for vehicles and the Tri-Cruiser Bike. Since batteries can only be charged at garages inside distribution centres or safehouses, it’s best to place a generator at a midpoint between two locations.
This is especially helpful and prevents you from having to abandon your bike.
Building a Bridge in Death Stranding 2
Fabricate a PCC and make your way to the location where you want to build a bridge. Bridges are mostly used to cross bodies of water, but you can also use them to make traversal across large gaps in roads or cliffs easier. Take out your PCC by holding the right D-pad, which opens the Weapons/Tools wheel. When choosing to build a bridge, you’ll see a holographic outline showing how it can be placed, along with two possible lengths to choose from. The cost for each length is different:
|
Length |
Cost |
|
30 |
600 |
|
45 |
800 |
While building a bridge, you must ensure that neither end is near a steep slope or too close to the water's surface—otherwise, the game won’t let you start the construction process. Once the foundation has been set, you can use the metals you have to initiate the build.
It’s important to note that if you’re low on metal, you can always check the storage in Safehouses and Distribution Centres.
