In Death Stranding, players could use the Harmonica to play music for BB, earning Likes and slightly increasing your connection to the pod-bound baby. However, when you begin Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the Harmonica – like Lou's pod – is nowhere to be found. Does this mean that the Harmonica is not available in Death Stranding 2, despite Sam ending the original game with the instrument in his possession? How to Get the Harmonica in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
Progress to Episode 3:
While it played an admittedly small role in Death Stranding, the Harmonica was a fan-favorite item that was easy to miss. Because of this, many players will likely wonder whether the Harmonica returns in DS2. Music-loving fans will be happy to know that it does return, but the method for acquiring it is completely different this time around.
DS2 fans may have suspected that since Sam ended the game with the Harmonica in his possession, that he may still have it. While this is technically true, Sam won't be able to use it until some very important story events take place. The events of Episodes 1 and 2 contain earth-shattering events that shake the world of Death Stranding to the core, so we won't be spoiling them here.
What we will do, is explain that, once Episode 3 begins, and you set out with your BB pod attached to your chest once again, the Harmonica will suddenly appear in your inventory.
How to Use the Harmonica in Death Standing 2
Music at Rest:
In Death Stranding 2, the Harmonica functions in much the same way as the original game. To use it, you'll first need to equip it. You can do this by looking in the 'Face' section of the gear menu. You can open the gear menu by pressing left on the D-Pad.
Once you have the Harmonica equipped, you'll need to sit down and rest. Resting appears to be the only time you can use the Harmonica in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
Playing the Harmonica has two major Lou-related benefits:
- Lou offers two groups of Likes, 20 and 5, in two separate offerings.
- Lou's mood improves while she enjoys Sam's performance - another way to soothe Lou in DS2.
Playing for Lou is currently the only known use for the Harmonica, but if any new use is discovered, we'll update this guide accordingly.
