The Dreadnought Twins have returned from the first game to (once again) stop you from extracting all the minerals and boarding the drop pod in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. They are a variant of the normal Dreadnought, but with only 9,500 health. Do not let the reduced health pools fool you, though. The Twins have different attack and movement patterns you must watch out for. They also look after each other with healing abilities. It does not matter what class you have in DRG: Survivor, the Dreadnought Twins can wipe you out within seconds if you are not careful.

How to Beat the Dreadnought Twins in DRG: Survivor

DRG Survivor - Dreadnought Twins Healing
The Dreadnought Twins share health in DRG: Survivor.

The Dreadnought Twins have a chance of appearing as the final bosses at the end of either Stage 5 or Stage 10 dives. They consist of two smaller Dreadnoughts called the Arbalest (red) and the Lacerator (blue) that work together. While the twins have separate health bars, you cannot ignore one for the other, because they can heal each other. Waste too much time beating the Dreadnought Twins in DRG: Survivor and they will heal themselves back to full health. Hence, it is important to understand their attacks and abilities.

The Dreadnought Twins In Battle

The Lacerator does melee damage and will always chase you around the stage. It also performs a charge (leap attack) similar to the normal Dreadnought boss, which does massive damage if you are caught in its landing zone. The Arbalest is quite the opposite. It is not as aggressive as the Lacerator and will not chase you around. Instead, it will try to keep some distance while firing waves of fireballs where each wave has a chance of containing multiple projectiles.

The Dreadnought Twins have the same abilities at higher hazard levels, but with more intensity. Both Dreadnoughts move faster, do more damage, and perform their special abilities more often. The Lacerator can do two charges back to back. The Arbalest can throw more fireballs that travel faster and further.

What makes the Dreadnought Twins really frustrating in difficult biomes in DRG: Survivor is their healing ability. If the difference between their health bars becomes too much, the Twins become immune to all damage and start healing each other to balance their health bars. Something else to note, especially for new players in DRG: Survivor, is that the amount of health restored is based on the difference in their health bars. Hence, the greater the difference, the stronger the heals the Twins give each other.

The Dreadnought Twin with the most life transfers 10% of its maximum health, healing the other Twin for 20% of its maximum HP.

Defeating the Dreadnought Twins

The best way to beat the Dreadnought Twins is to damage them equally in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. This might be easier said than done. Since the Lacerator is always chasing, you can end up leading it further away than the Arbalest. This means that you are only damaging the Lacerator, or doing too little damage to the Arbalest.

There are two strategies here that work. If there are too many elites, start circling the stage with the Lacerator in pursuit before heading straight for the Arbalest when the health-bar difference starts increasing. Alternatively, try to maneuver yourself between the Twins to damage them at the same time.

Prepare the stage before the Dreadnought Twins spawn. Take the mining and damage upgrades to clear the terrain and wipe out the elites. This will give you a lot of room to move in and out of the Twins' range.

Remember that time is of the essence when facing the Dreadnought Twins in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. The longer you take, the more elites will spawn, leaving you with little room to move around. Make sure to pair the best weapons and overclocks to get rid of the Twins as fast as possible.
