Day One Xbox Game Pass Game Confirmed for September 17

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor will be a day-one title on Xbox Game Pass when the full version releases on September 17. Gamescom 2025 has been chock-full of Xbox announcements, especially for its subscription service. Xbox Game Pass has revealed multiple upcoming releases already, and Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is the latest to join the ranks.

Survivor is a single-player auto-shooter spin-off of 2020's multiplayer FPS gem Deep Rock Galactic. Like the original, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor features four classes to choose from, each with its own skills and weapons players can use as they mine for resources while fighting off hordes of alien monsters. The game has been available in early access on PC since February 2024, but now fans can look forward to a full launch, including an Xbox release.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Is Coming to Xbox Game Pass On September 17

On August 21, during Gamescom 2025, Xbox showed off a new trailer for Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, confirming it as a day-one title for Xbox Game Pass while revealing its full release date. The video also shows off plenty of auto-shooting combat, showcasing the variety of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor's 40-plus unlockable weapons alongside a slew of equipment customization options. It doesn't specify how many more weapons and equipment the game will feature compared to the early access build, but developer Funday Games has previously stated the full release will offer "more of every type of content."

The original Deep Rock Galactic is one of the best co-op games of the 2020s, so the single-player spin-off has a lot to live up to. Still, Survivor currently has a "Very Positive" user rating on Steam with over 18,000 reviews, so it's already off to a solid start. Anyone holding out for the console release or waiting for the full version before diving in won't have to wait long to find out for themselves if it meets the high bar set by its predecessor.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor isn't the only day-one Xbox Game Pass release to get some attention during Gamescom 2025. Earlier in the conference, Kalypso Media revealed that Tropico 7 will be a day-one Xbox Game Pass title when it comes out in 2026. High on Life 2 and the sci-fi horror shooter ROUTINE were also confirmed to be available on the platform on their respective release days. While the original Deep Rock Galactic was not a day-one release, it is also currently available on Xbox Game Pass, having come to the service in April 2024.
