How to Find & Use Climbing Tools in Deltarune

Deltarune is a popular adventure game where you join in battles with your companions to explore the secrets of a mysterious world. Chapter 4 has been added in the latest update, where you can unlock lots of secret items.

One such item is the climbing tool, which is essential for you to progress through the story. So, here’s a detailed guide on how to unlock the climbing tool and how you can use it in Deltarune Chapter 4.

How To Find Climbing Tools

Walking to Jackenstein Boss in Deltarune

You can get the climbing tools by beating the Jackenstein boss in Deltarune Chapter 4. So, you’ll need to find the boss first. You can find Jackenstein after reaching the northwest library section near the old man’s study. However, you need to solve a puzzle first to get to the boss.

You need to go to the old man’s study room and head towards the northwest section of the library. There, you’ll find a Deltarune doorway, which you have to unlock by playing the correct tune on the piano in front of it. However, you will need to collect all the music notes to find the right tune. If you play the tune correctly, you can unlock the doorway, where you can find the Jackenstein boss.

First Piano Slide Puzzle

Head to the library past the blue book that chases you slowly. Then, make your way up the ladder to the left and head towards the blue piano. This is a puzzle that you’ll need to complete to unlock the path to the right.

It is not a musical puzzle, but a slide puzzle. You don’t need to play musical notes to solve the piano puzzle. You will have to slide the blue bookcase to the white-outlined square on your upper left. Doing so, the locked door to the right will open, and you can head in there.

Second Piano Slide Puzzle

Head towards the right through this passage, and you will find a Guei will-o'-wisp. Follow the path further, and there you will find another slide puzzle with a green and pink piano. Complete this puzzle the same way you did the first one.

Find The First Four Music Notes

After you are done, head to the doorway to the right, and you’ll see four music notes. After you find these notes, you need to head back to the corridor where you find the Guei will-o'-wisp. Now, you’ll need to go towards the left.

Find The Second Four Music Notes

There, you’ll find a light switch room. You’ll need to navigate through the room to find the other four music notes. This will complete your collection of all eight notes. After you have all eight notes, return to the passage where you find the Guei will-o'-wisp.

Play The Music At Deltarune Doorway

Now, you’ll have to head to the middle doorway with the deltarune symbol. You will need to play your completed tune at this doorway to unlock it. Once you have successfully unlocked the path, head inside.

Find The Jackenstein Boss

After you go inside, you will find a dark room. Keep going towards the right until you fall down. Proceed towards the right, and you will eventually trigger a “Laight…who daire bring laight hear”. Further dialogues will appear if you keep going “Go…back…you sudn’t come here”. Do not stop until this dialogue appears on your screen “This zoan…is forbiden”.

You will have to go downwards from here until everything becomes completely dark. Then, this dialogue will trigger “Very well…if you come cloaser to this place…then you may find…the dark”. Then, you’ll enter a battle with the Jackenstein boss.

Get The Climbing Tools

After you beat the boss, you’ll be able to light up the room. However, Jackenstein will panic at so much light at once, and you’ll have to heal him up with Susie. Once Jackenstein recovers, he will hug you and give you the climbing tools called Claimb Claw.

How To Use Climbing Tools

After you get the climbing tools, you can use them to climb bookcases and climbable walls. You will need this to progress further into the story, as major parts of Deltarune Chapter 4 will need you to have it.

The areas labeled ‘you don’t have the right tools’ that were locked to you earlier can now be accessed. You can also use it to solve puzzles, such as the Golden Piano Puzzle for finding the secret boss in Chapter 4.
