Deltarune has released update 1.04 on all platforms, with the developer hinting that this might be the final patch. Following the release of Deltarune’s Chapters 3 and 4, the developer has rolled out a couple of patches to polish the game and address some errors, and it seems like Toby Fox is done updating the game after patch 1.04.

Jackenstein-Deltarune Cropped

Following Undertale’s redefining gaming experience, Toby Fox released Deltarune, building upon the key elements of his previous hit. While not a direct sequel (or prequel), Deltarune is a spiritual successor that presents a parallel story to Undertale, sharing its core themes and characters but set in a different continuity. Still, Deltarune holds the quirky, unique role-playing style of Undertale, inviting players into a mysterious realm called the Dark World where they must face various creatures in turn-based combat mixed with bullet-hell elements—though still allowing players to choose between fighting or sparing enemies, like in Undertale. Chapters 1 and 2 were released in 2018 and 2021, while Chapters 3 and 4 launched on June 5, 2025, on the Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PC, and PlayStation.

Deltarune includes a special feature only available on the Nintendo Switch 2, making Chapters 3 and 4 feel a little bit more special.

Now, the developer has dropped a patch to make Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 run a little better. Alongside the patch notes for update 1.04, the developer noted that “We have no other patches planned at this time.” While it didn’t explain much, this could mean that the latest patch is likely the final update Deltarune will see. Luckily for fans, changes and improvements have been rolled out to all available platforms.

Much like the previous Deltarune update released in July, this patch tackles a lot of bugs in Chapters 3 and 4, and a few more for the rest of the chapters. In Chapter 3, players were running into two crashes: one when throwing a shell and checking it as it breaks, and another when checking waterlogged binoculars—both issues have now been resolved. Chapter 4 also saw a few errors fixed, along with a slowdown in the speed of bullets for one of Jackenstein’s attacks. Moreover, two fixes addressed issues affecting only the Switch 2 version, involving the “Main Performance” minigame and a bug at the end of battles.

The overall game also received some minor visual and text fixes, as well as a solution for a problem with keyboard customization when connecting a new controller. As players continue exploring Chapters 3 and 4, Deltarune’s developer has already confirmed the release window for Chapter 5 for 2026.
