Lanino and Elnina are a unique boss fight in Deltarune Chapter 3 because you don't actually defeat them through traditional combat or by reducing their HP to zero. Instead, it's a negotiation and persuasion battle. This weather-forecasting couple challenges you to a duo battle at the same time. If you’re struggling, this guide can help take down the lovers, Lanino and Elnina in Deltarune.
Deltarune Chapter 4: 100% Walkthrough
Deltarune Chapter 4 is one of the more lore heavy parts of the game, and there are a ton of secrets to discover in between the main story beats.
How to Start Fight With Lanino and Elnina in Deltarune
The battle with Lanino and Elnina takes place during round one, TV Time: The Legend of Tenna, in Chapter 3. You’ll find the couple enjoying a romantic date by an oasis. As you advance through the stage, you’ll eventually need to block off the oasis to progress.
When you return to the oasis, Lanino and Elnina will confront you, furious that you’ve spoiled their date. Their anger quickly turns into action as they launch into battle.
You can also trigger the battle by repeatedly drinking the water from the oasis.
How To Beat Lanino and Elnina in Deltarune
Unlike most boss battles in Deltarune, you don't defeat Lanino and Elnina by attacking them. Mr. Tenna will inform you that repeating the phrase "I love TV" 99 times will instantly win the battle.
Throughout the entire fight, your main action will be repeatedly using the "I Love TV" ACT command. While you're busy using the ACT command, Lanino and Elnina will still launch their weather-themed attacks. Focus on dodging these as best you can to keep your party alive in Deltarune.
As you continue to say "I Love TV," Lanino and Elnina will start getting annoyed with each other and their banter will escalate into bickering. At one point, they'll ask you whose attack you prefer. Your choice here doesn't change the outcome of the fight, but it will make the chosen character's attacks more potent for the rest of the battle. You can just pick whichever you like.
Soon after, the one you didn’t choose will grow increasingly irritated until they eventually storms off in frustration. The other will then launch a solo attack; dodge the projectiles, which shrink over time as their mood worsens. Once they’re visibly disheartened, Mr. Tenna will step in and automatically end the fight.
By sticking to the "I Love TV" action and avoiding their attacks, you can defuse the argument between the two. The battle concludes peacefully, with neither Lanino nor Elnina losing a single HP. You will be rewarded with the Mooncloud Stone.
You absolutely cannot defeat Lanino and Elnina by attacking them. The game isn't designed for this, and trying to force a combat victory won't work. Even though you're not fighting offensively, you'll still take damage from their attacks. Make sure you have healing items on hand.
