How To Find The Jackenstein Boss

Walking to Jackenstein Boss in Deltarune

You can find the Jackenstein boss as you progress through the story normally. You’ll need to go to the old man’s study room and head towards the northwest section of the library. There, you’ll find a Deltarune doorway, which is locked.

Solve The Piano Puzzle To Get Music Notes

In front of the doorway, you’ll find a piano. You’ll need to solve the piano slide puzzles to collect a total of eight music notes. Once you have pieced together the entire music, you’ll need to play the tune on the piano.

The sequence in which you need to play the notes is indicated by arrows. Follow the sequence and play the music to unlock the Deltarune doorway. Head inside and you will find a completely dark area. Go towards the right until you fall down.

How To Beat The Jackenstein Boss

Jackenstein Boss Fight in Deltarune

Jackenstein in Deltarune Chapter 4 is less a traditional turn-based showdown and more a hybrid maze-chase encounter. Your objective isn’t to trade blows in the usual way, but to survive and charge up enough TP. To win, you’ll need to be patient during the maze mini-games while playing defensively overall.

Don’t Fight At Start

The battle opens with you trapped in a dim maze. Your goal is to go through the hallways and collect the small glowing TP orbs scattered throughout. Keep an eye on the pumpkin that periodically chases you. You need to then locate the hidden key that unlocks the maze exit and use it to enter the next phase.

Defend to Build TP

Once you’ve escaped the initial maze, the fight actually begins. On each turn, try to select the Defend command from the Act menu rather than attack. Defending reduces incoming damage and charges your TP gauge more quickly.

Every time you use Defend, you gain a sizable TP boost, and any leftover glowing orbs you collect in the maze carry over toward your total. You need to reach at least sixty percent TP before using any attacks.

Use “Unleash” from the Act Menu

When your TP gauge hits the sixty-percent mark, a new option called Unleash appears under the Act menu. Selecting Unleash immediately takes you back into the maze, but this time as the hunter.

You chase Jackenstein, and each successful collision deals damage to his health bar. After you strike him once, the fight resets to the turn-based interface, and you return to Defend to rebuild TP. Rinse and repeat till his HP is depleted.

Rewards From Beating The Jackenstein Boss

Jackenstein Boss Pacify in Deltarune

When you successfully beat the Jackenstein boss, you receive a set of climbing tools essential for exploring the vertical shafts and ledges previously blocked in Chapter 4 of Deltarune. This ability opens up secret pathways and options that you can pursue to find various secret bosses and endings.

In addition to the climbing gear, you'll also unlock a behind-the-scenes journal entry detailing Jackenstein’s origins, a lore reward for completionists. Clearing this fight is mandatory to continue the main quest, but the extra exploration you'll be able to do makes it well worth the effort.
