How To Use Glowshards in Deltarune

Glowshards are a glowing consumable item found in the mysterious Dark Worlds. The most straightforward use of the Glowshard is to sell it to Seam's shop.

In Deltarune's Chapter 1, you can sell a Glowshard for a respectable 100 Dark Dollars (D$), which can be quite helpful for early-game purchases. However, the game subtly hints that its value increases by 50 D$ in subsequent chapters. As such, holding onto Glowshards until later in the game might be a more profitable strategy.

Apart from this, the Glowshard has another unique, though limited, combat use in Chapter 1. During battles with Rudinn enemies, you can use a Glowshard directly from your inventory to instantly "Spare" or "Pacify" them. This immediately ends the battle without needing to fight or endure their attacks.

If you use the Glowshard in battle, it will disappear on use.

While this can be a quick way to end a Rudinn encounter non-violently, it's actually considered a niche use because Rudinns aren't that challenging, and there are other readily available ways to pacify them. This makes the Glowshard's combat role less important.

Since Deltarune is still a work in progress and some items are cryptic, there's a popular theory that Glowshards may have a more important, overarching purpose in future chapters. If you're able to manage without selling the Glowshard, it’s best to hold onto these items, as they could be part of a larger, long-term puzzle that will only become clear as more chapters are released.

How To Get More Glowshards in Deltarune

At the time of writing, Glowshards can only be found as fixed pickups in specific locations in the Dark Worlds. The first Glowshard you can get is in the very early Underground area in Chapter 1, soon after you enter the Dark World with Susie, and before you reach Castle Town.

Another Glowshard can be found in Queen's Mansion in Deltarune's Chapter 2, located in a specific room there. Make sure to thoroughly explore the different areas of the Dark World in each chapter to find Glowshards.
