Attack on Titan first stepped into the spotlight after its anime release in 2013, and it's been a huge success globally ever since then. The series continues to be one of the most popular anime of all time to this day, and finding a replacement for it is quite difficult. The Attack on Titan manga concluded in 2021, and its anime followed suit in 2023. The series hasn’t really had any major projects since, apart from a recompilation movie and some other small projects here and there. Attack on Titan was truly a sensation that played a significant role in making anime mainstream. But now, that role has officially passed over to Demon Slayer.

At the moment, Demon Slayer is rising as the perfect replacement for Attack on Titan to make anime more mainstream and to attract fans to the medium. Demon Slayer, just like Attack on Titan, features the battle of humanity against creatures that seek to consume them. But, while Attack on Titan is already over, Demon Slayer is still going strong right now. The series just dropped its newest movie, Infinity Castle, and will release two more in the upcoming years. Attack on Titan seems to be truly gone for now, but fans can turn their attention to other series that are just as exciting.

Attack on Titan Isn’t the Only Anime That Features Gruesome Human Eating Creatures

  • Demon Slayer Will Continue With Its Growing Success

Attack on Titan is a story that immediately caught the attention of many anime fans upon its release. Its concept is quite unique, in that it is gruesome, featuring human-eating titans. Nobody is safe in Attack on Titan, and the stakes are always high with everybody’s lives on the line. That said, Attack on Titan isn’t the only series with such a concept. Demon Slayer, a newer series, features something similar. Instead of titans, Demon Slayer has demons who have a liking for human flesh. While Demon Slayer isn’t quite as dark or deep a series as Attack on Titan, it’s still been rising as a perfect replacement for fans looking for a similar thrill as Attack on Titan, as well as equal, if not greater, hype.

Demon Slayer has especially been going strong right now with the release of its most recent movie, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. The series still has, at the very least, a few years to go, as two other movies are in the works.

Could Attack on Titan Make a Comeback?

A Spin-Off Animated Series Isn’t Impossible

Nothing will truly replace Attack on Titan for fans of the series. With that being said, there isn’t any confirmed new project being worked on at the moment. However, that doesn’t mean a return is impossible, or that it will never happen. Attack on Titan is definitely a series with a lot of potential for a spin-off anime.

After all, Attack on Titan already has a prequel manga series, known as “Before the Fall.” While this series features a new cast of characters, it would still be interesting to revive the series through it, just like how Vigilantes has done for MHA.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 is out in theatres now. Fans who don't want to wait for the movies to drop can check the manga out on Manga Plus. Meanwhile, for the anime, the series currently has 4 anime seasons. These anime seasons can all be found on Crunchyroll. The remainder of the series will be animated into movies, and fans will have to wait for their theatrical release to watch them, depending on their country.
