An Oscar would certainly be the feather in the cap for Demon Slayer, but what the fans truly want is the next two movies to be released soon so that they can watch their beloved series' conclusion. Presently, there have been no updates from ufotable regarding the second and third movies, implying that the production is still not finished. But rumors suggest that ufotable wants to finish the trilogy by 2029.
If the hearsay is to be believed, then the studio will try to release the second movie in 2027 and the third in 2029. Two years may seem inadequate, but there's a good chance that ufotable was working on the first and the second movies simultaneously. Once the production of Akaza's Return ended, ufotable would have shifted the majority of the staff onto the second movie. This would have allowed the studio to get a head start and adhere to the deadlines that it had set.
Another big question in fans' minds will be whether the second movie will be able to perform as well as the first. There will be a lot of pressure on the studio too, but all it needs to do is make sure that the quality of animation isn't affected.
