Summary

  • Shinobu Kocho's early death against Doma robbed fans of seeing her potential in fighting Muzan later on.
  • Muichiro's demise at the hands of Kokushibo deprived viewers of witnessing his immense talent and potential at a young age.
  • Nakime's premature death by Muzan cut short the revelation of her powerful Blood Demon Art and untapped potential.

Demon Slayer is an anime full of tragic deaths due to the nature of the world. With the demons roaming around, no one is truly safe, and many characters have died far earlier than they should have as a result.

Demon Slayer: 7 Most Important Characters In The Final Arc

These characters were massively important in the finale of Demon Slayer. Their role was primary to the story.

These characters were taken from fans way too early, and some definitely had potential left in them to continue longer into the story, whether it was as a human or a demon.

6 Shinobu Kocho

The Insect Hashira

  • Killed by: Doma

Shinobu Kocho is one of the Hashira, specifically the Insect Hashira. This character, despite being physically weak, has shown that her intelligence and speed can more than make up for it. During the Infinity Castle arc, she is put face to face with her sister’s killer, Doma. While she definitely wanted to take him down, even if that meant going down with him.

Shinobu showed great skills and techniques against Doma, but in the end, it all amounted to nothing as she was defeated and devoured by him, although that was always her plan. Her body poisoned Doma which allowed the others to behead him. Overall, Shinobu’s death came just too soon and it would have been interesting to see her fight Doma for longer or make it to the fight against Muzan.

5 Muichiro

The Mist Hashira

  • Killed By: Kokushibo

Muichiro was the Mist Hashira in Demon Slayer and quite a beloved character in the series. Muichiro was the youngest member of the Hashira, being only 14 years old, and despite that, he was definitely one of the most talented ones with huge potential, as was clear from the fact that he was one of few characters who were able to single-handedly take down a member of the Upper-Rank Demons.

During the final arc of Demon Slayer, however, he met quite an awful end. He was put face to face with the most powerful demon after Muzan, Kokushibo. Against him, Muichiro had no chance. Muichiro sustained deadly injuries and did not make it to the fight against Muzan. Muichiro definitely died too young, being only 14 years old, and it would have been great to see him face the Demon King Muzan.

4 Nakime

The New Upper Rank 4

  • Killed by: Muzan

Nakime is a powerful demon that never got to show off her full potential. After the defeat of Hanatengu during the events of the Swordsmith Village arc, Nakime was made to be the newest Upper Rank 4 Demon, and for good reasons.

Her Blood Demon Art was extremely powerful, being able to control anything inside of her creation, the Infinity Castle. Her powers are so important that a whole arc is named after it, and this castle provides protection for the demons from the sun.

Demon Slayer has many intense fights, especially in the last two arcs of the series.

By

During the Infinity Castle arc, she easily manages to keep at bay two Hashiras, Mitsuri and Obanai. She is only incapacitated when Yoshiro sneaks up on her and controls her, which leads to Muzan trying to regain control of her, but to no avail. His last resort is to kill her. Nakime had a lot of untapped potential that could’ve been shown.

3 Kaigaku

The New Upper Rank 6

  • Killed By: Zenitsu

Kaigaku was a character who was taught Thunder Breathing with Zenitsu by the former Thunder Hashira himself, Jigoro Kuwajima. Before that, he was one of the orphans that Gyomei cared for at the temple, but he was the one to betray them by allowing demons to enter the temple. He would betray his people once more after, when he betrayed the Demon Slayers and joined the Demons upon meeting Kokoushibo. This led to Jigoro committing suicide. He would become the new Upper Rank 6 with the defeat of the former Upper Rank 6 Gyutaro and Daki.

Kaigaku would, however, meet a swift end upon the start of the Infinity Castle arc. He was faced with his former fellow student of Thunder breathing, Zenitsu. Zenitsu swiftly dealt with him, and fans never got to see the full potential of this demon.

2 Kanae Kocho

The Flower Hashira

  • Killed By: Doma

Kanae Kocho is the late Flower Hashira, who also happens to be the older sister of Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira, as well as the adoptive sister of Kanao. Not much has been seen of Kanae due to her early death against one of Demon Slayer’s most powerful and dangerous demons, the Upper Rank 2 Demon, Doma.

Kanae was able to fight against Doma until sunrise, and even managed to not get eaten by him. However, the injuries she had sustained were too much to bear for her and she died in Shinobu’s arms. Fans would have definitely loved to see more of Kanae, but unfortunately, she died far too early.

1 Rengoku Kyojuro

The Flame Hashira

  • Killed by: Akaza

Undoubtedly, a character that was taken away too early from Demon Slayer fans is the Flame Hashira himself, Rengoku Kyojuro. This beloved character is the first Hashira fans see die, as Kyojuro lost his life when he had to fight the Upper Rank 3 Demon, Akaza.

While Kyojuro was strong, he was too weak in comparison to an Upper Rank Demon of the level of Akaza. Kyojuro sustained a deadly injury and died soon after. It would have definitely been interesting to see how Kyojuro would have contributed to the Demon Slayer story had he survived.
