Could A Special IMAX Screening for Demon Slayed: Infinity Castle Go International?

  • At the moment, only the Japanese screening is confirmed

The new special IMAX screening for Demon Slayer has been announced, but at the moment, there is only a Japanese release for this exciting project. This has fans wondering if it's ever going to go international. Sadly, at the moment, it's unlikely for this project to go international. However, if it met with great success in Japan, it wouldn't be surprising to see it imported into more countries.

But even if it does, it would definitely be limited to a set number of theaters due to the complicated nature of having to customize screenings. For more news about an International release, fans should wait for a couple of months, and even then, it's not a guarantee.

This is absolutely massive, and even internationally, Demon Slayer has not been slacking. Both of Demon Slayer's movies, Infinity Castle and Mugen Train, are the highest-performing anime movies of all time internationally.

No other series seems to be able to compete with Demon Slayer when it comes to movies, and this includes seemingly bigger franchises like One Piece or Dragon Ball. Demon Slayer’s impact has been so big that the whole anime movie industry in Japan has shifted. To copy Demon Slayer’s success, more studios and franchises will try to focus on creating canon theatrical releases that cover major arcs before the anime. Demon Slayer will usher in a new era for anime.

Demon Slayer’s special IMAX release, which is coming in February, is not the only exciting thing that is coming up for the franchise. Of course, since the release of the Infinity Castle Part 1 movie, fans have been crying out for it to come to streaming platforms, but that has yet to happen. The movie has simply been so successful in theaters that it has taken a very long time to get it on streaming platforms. In comparison, Chainsaw Man Reze Arc, a movie that was released after Demon Slayer, is already on streaming platforms.

Nevertheless, Crunchyroll has promised fans a 2026 release for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. Sadly, the exact release date remains a mystery. Fans hope for a mid-2026 release at the latest, so they can watch their favorite movie from home. Aside from a streaming release, fans might also be getting new information pertaining to the next Demon Slayer movie, Infinity Castle Part 2. As has been made clear already, one of the biggest anime events of the year is coming up in March, and that is Anime Japan 2026. During this event, fans might finally get more information on the next movie, including a release window.

A 2027 release seems likely as, at the moment, a 2026 release is impossible for the Studio to deliver. Fans should definitely tune in for this big event, and maybe attend it in person if they're in Japan.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is out in theaters now. Fans who don’t want to wait for the movies to drop can check the manga out on Manga Plus. Meanwhile, for the anime, the series currently has 4 anime seasons. These anime seasons can all be found on Crunchyroll. The remainder of the series will, however, be animated into movies, which fans will have to wait for their theatrical release to watch, depending on their country.
