Gotouge has proven to be a very talented manga writer, and fans would love to see a new series from them—something that might be very possible.

Anime fans, and even people who are not into anime, are currently engrossed in Demon Slayer, all thanks to the new movie. The series has gone global, and that can be attributed in part thanks to its incredible anime adaptation that brought the manga to life in an amazing way.

One can also not talk about Demon Slayer without mentioning its amazing movies. The first Demon Slayer movie, Mugen Train, has, after all, broken all Japanese Box Office records. And succeeding it, the current movie, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1—Akaza’s Return, has yet again broken all these records. It is quite evident that the Demon Slayer hype is unstoppable.

All this would not have been possible to do without Gotouge’s blueprint, the Demon Slayer manga. Gotouge’s manga is simple and quite short compared to other big shonen manga, but it has achieved the status of one of the best-selling mangas of all time. Managing over 220 million copies in circulation with only 23 volumes is an incredible feat.

The Demon Slayer manga is still very popular, despite the story having ended back in 2020. But now, with the movie trilogy concluding in the coming years and marking the end of the Demon Slayer franchise, many fans want something new from Gotouge.

Curiously enough, Gotouge has already teased their new manga. Indeed, in the second fanbook dedicated to the Demon Slayer series, Gotouge mentioned that they are considering starting a new manga, and that manga would be quite different from what fans got with Demon Slayer.

Gotouge’s new manga would be a science fiction romantic comedy story. Apparently, Gotouge had been rewatching alien movies, and that likely inspired this.

Instead of demons, the new story of Gotouge could focus on battles against aliens. The story could very well be a lot more lighthearted than Demon Slayer, by the look of it.

Fans would definitely love a new series from Demon Slayer’s creator, but for now, Gotouge has not confirmed that they will indeed go ahead with this new alien sci-fi concept.

It could very well be that Gotouge never makes a new manga. But, with Demon Slayer’s huge success, and the fact that most young mangaka do more than one series, there can be an expectation for a new series. This is even more so the case as Shonen Jump is running quite dry, with big manga like Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia ending.

It will be hard to replicate the level of success that Gotouge had with Demon Slayer, but it’s not impossible, especially as they are far more experienced now.

The Demon Slayer manga concluded long ago, in 2020 to be specific. The story is rather short compared to most other series, and only spans over 205 chapters. Fans of the series who don't want to wait for the movies to drop can check the manga out on Manga Plus.

Meanwhile, for the anime, the series currently has 4 anime seasons. These anime seasons can all be found on Crunchyroll. The rest of the series will be animated into movies, for which fans will have to wait for a theatrical release. The release date, in this case, depends on their country.
