Demon: Infinity Castle was so big that it broke all records before it, surpassing even its predecessor, Mugen Train. Fans are now hyped for the next installment in the Demon Slayer movie trilogy, Infinity Castle Part 2. However, it’s unlikely this movie will drop in 2026, and fans will have to be patient for it to be released.

In the meantime, The Apothecary Diaries is getting its first movie in 2026, and it could easily succeed Demon Slayer as the biggest movie of the year. The Apothecary Diaries isn’t action-focused and is most certainly not as big a franchise as Demon Slayer, but the story will have fans flocking to theaters, and its quality is on a whole different level.

It was recently revealed that The Apothecary Diaries will finally get an official movie, and soon. December 2026 will mark the release date of The Apothecary Diaries movie, and fans are definitely hyped. This new movie will be a brand new story by the same creator, Natsu Hyuga, making it canon. The Apothecary Diaries movie is highly anticipated, especially as the series is more popular than ever in Japan, competing and even beating the likes of One Piece at major awards, and rivaling it even in sales.

Can The Apothecary Diaries Movie Surpass Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle?

  • Demon Slayer Can Be Surpassed In Ratings
  • Surpassing Demon Slayer In Box Office Revenue is Impossible

The Apothecary Diaries has definitely become a hugely popular series in Japan. The anime, and even Maomao herself have won many awards, which goes to show its growing popularity. With that in mind, The Apothecary Diaries movie is almost guaranteed to be a hit, but while that’s the case, it can only beat Demon Slayer in ratings. It is almost impossible that Demon Slayer will be beaten at box office numbers.

Akaza in Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer has dominated the movie industry to such a level that both its movies, Infinity Castle, and Mugen Train are Japan’s number 1 and number 2. It is also a far bigger franchise than The Apothecary Diaries. Even humongous series like One Piece or Dragon Ball don’t seem to be able to dethrone it, movie-wise, and The Apothecary Diaries probably won’t either. The Apothecary Diaries can still win in ratings, as Chainsaw Man Reze Arc has beaten Demon Slayer recently.

The Apothecary Diaries is a must-watch anime right now. With the series’s third season now announced, fans who are yet to be caught up have the opportunity to do so and binge a total of 48 episodes. All these episodes can be accessed and streamed on Crunchyroll, the biggest anime platform.
