Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Among the All-Time Top 10 Movies in Japan

According to the official Demon Slayer account, the first Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie has sold over 12.5 million tickets, earning over 17.6 billion yen (about US$ 119.98 million) in 17 days at the box office. This already puts the movie among the 10 highest-earning movies of all time in Japan. Additionally, Oricon made a graphic comparing Akaza Returns to Mugen Train, which shows that the new movie is performing much better, suggesting it will likely surpass every Mugen Train record over time:

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is currently not only the highest-earning movie of all time in Japan, but also the highest-earning Japanese movie worldwide. Still, the latter record is largely the movie's outstanding performance at the Japanese box office (since worldwide records don't exclude Japanese numbers). Therefore, if Infinity Castle surpasses Mugen Train in Japan, it will likely also become the biggest box office of a Japanese movie in the world.

When Will Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Be Released in the US?

  • Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is set to be released in the US on September 12, 2025.

With such great news about the new movie, fans around the world are excited to finally be able to watch it. The film will debut in several Asian countries this month, and it will hit theaters in the US, Canada, and the UK on September 12, 2025. Australian fans are a bit luckier, since the movie will premiere there one day earlier, on September 11.

That’s right. Since the huge success of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie Mugen Train, the attention of theater owners around the world to anime has changed. Infinity Castle will also be released on an unprecedented scale. I think it will be a milestone movie for theatrical anime, so I think it is Crunchyroll’s responsibility to deliver solid results.

As for the other two Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movies, there are still no official announcements, but rumors suggest that the second movie will come out in 2027 and the final movie will be released in 2029. Furthermore, there's also the possibility that the Sunrise Countdown arc, which is the final arc of the story, will be out in another format.

Demon Slayer is available to stream on Crunchyroll, subbed and dubbed in English and other languages.
