Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 — Akaza’s Return is a movie every anime fan was eagerly waiting for since the conclusion of Demon Slayer’s last anime season. While the wait for the movie was quite long, one thing is for sure, it didn’t disappoint. This movie is on its way to becoming the highest-grossing movie in Japan, a title it would steal from Demon Slayer’s previous big hit movie, Mugen Train. Regardless, when talking about highly anticipated 2025 anime movie releases, another title comes to mind: Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc. This movie just dropped in Japan and finally dethroned Infinity Castle after its 2-month grip on the Japanese Box Office.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 — Akaza’s Return has been dominating in Japan for a couple of months now since the movie’s release back in July. The movie is still going strong, especially overseas, where it just dropped recently. In Japan, viewership has obviously been dropping gradually. This is bound to happen for every movie as time goes on. This movie was, as such, finally dethroned from Japan’s number 1 spot at the box office on September 19, 2025. This coincides with the release date of Japan’s next big animated movie of the year 2025, Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc. Chainsaw Man’s movie now holds the number one spot, which is a huge achievement. Infinity Castle is still on number 2, on the other hand, and it could reclaim its number 1 spot if Chainsaw Man’s movie doesn’t hold up in the upcoming weeks.

You misunderstand, Tanjiro I only despise the weak. I only spit on weaklings. Yes. Weaklings make me sick. It is the law of nature that they be weeded out.

Will Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc Beat Demon Slayer’s Record?

Chainsaw Man Reze arc new trailer release date
  • Reze Arc is a Success, But Not on the Level of Demon Slayer
  • The Movie Could Still Break into Japan’s Top 10

With Chainsaw Man’s newest movie dethroning Demon Slayer in its number 1 box office spot in Japan, fans wonder if this movie could go on to surpass it overall, or if this is just a lucky snatch for the franchise. While Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc is bound to be a huge movie with a lot of success, both in Japan and abroad, it’s very unlikely it will even come close to Demon Slayer’s numbers. Chainsaw Man, as a series, isn’t as well-known as Demon Slayer, which will definitely affect its numbers.

In order to soothe the spirits of those it killed, and to make sure it claims no further victims, I will swing my blade down and lop off the head of any demon without mercy! But I will not belittle those who regret their actions and suffer over the things they did as demons. Because demons were once human. Because they were like me.

All that said, Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc already has a higher rating than Infinity Castle, granted it has fewer ratings overall right now. The movie could, at the very least, break into Japan’s top 10 box office. Whether it will achieve that or not remains to be seen and will become clearer in a few months.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is out in theatres now. Fans who don’t want to wait for the movies to drop can check the manga out on Manga Plus. Meanwhile, for the anime, the series currently has 4 anime seasons. These anime seasons can all be found on Crunchyroll. The remaining part of the series will, however, be animated into movies, which fans will have to wait for their theatrical release to watch, depending on their country.
