Demon Slayer has enjoyed quite a lot of popularity over the years, and it wouldn't be a stretch to say that it is one of the most beloved anime franchises of all time. Although Demon Slayer had humble beginnings in Weekly Shonen Jump, it quickly blew up once it got an incredible anime adaptation. Its success didn’t stop there, however, as Mugen Train, the first movie of the series, went on to become Japan’s highest-grossing film ever.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Faces Criticism From Fans Despite Major Success
Demon Slayer's newest movie is a hit, but fans are complaining about the battles.
Demon Slayer is more than a one-hit wonder as it is recreating the success of Mugen Train with its newest movie, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 - Akaza’s Return. If anything, this movie is shaping up to be even bigger. Demon Slayer's movie success sounds amazing, but it could eventually lead to the downfall of the anime industry as movies get prioritized over seasonal anime. Demon Slayer is already ruining its own series by stretching an arc over years for box office money, and more could follow suit.
Demon Slayer’s Monumental Movie Success Has Changed The Industry
- More Anime Series Are Trying To Hit Gold In Theaters
- Movies Are Starting to Get Favored Over Seasonal Series
Demon Slayer is currently in the process of producing a massive trilogy of films which will go on and cover the final part of its manga. The first part of the trilogy, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 — Akaza’s Return, dropped over 2 months ago now. This movie was a monumental success, one that many didn’t anticipate. Infinity Castle Part 1 is on its way to becoming Japan’s number 1 at the box office, but this might not be such a good thing. There is a huge shift in the anime industry, one that actually started with the Mugen Train. Anime studios have been quick to observe the huge potential in canon anime movies, and many are capitalizing on it.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Has Officially Been Dethroned By One New Movie
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is huge, but it was just dethroned by this new movie.
Many fans want the success that Demon Slayer is enjoying in theaters, but that also means setting aside seasonal anime adaptations more often. Fans will definitely see more franchises doing this in the future, especially as the other two Demon Slayer movies rake in the numbers.
You misunderstand, Tanjiro I only despise the weak. I only spit on weaklings. Yes. Weaklings make me sick. It is the law of nature that they be weeded out.
Demon Slayer’s Infinity Castle Movies Might Be Ruining The Franchise Itself
What Should Have Dropped in One Year is Taking 6 Years
While Demon Slayer’s huge success could be ruining things for other series, it has already ruined things for itself and its own fans. Demon Slayer’s final part could have been one, 24-episode season, or maybe two at most. This could have been made and produced in, at most, 3 years. However, fans will have to wait, at the very least, 6 years for this entire arc to conclude as the final movie is anticipated for a 2029 release date. This definitely feels like a huge drag. A 6-year wait for one arc is not reasonable and will kill a lot of the fun of the series, despite it looking amazing on the big screen and breaking records. Fans can only hope that other anime series stick to the tradition of releasing yearly anime seasons instead of going for the cash grab with anime movies.
In order to soothe the spirits of those it killed, and to make sure it claims no further victims, I will swing my blade down and lop off the head of any demon without mercy! But I will not belittle those who regret their actions and suffer over the things they did as demons. Because demons were once human. Because they were like me.
Demon Slayer fans who don’t want to wait for the movies to drop can check the manga out on Manga Plus. Meanwhile, for the anime, the series currently has 4 anime seasons. These anime seasons can all be found on Crunchyroll. The remaining part of the series will, however, be animated into movies, which fans will have to wait for their theatrical release to watch, depending on their country.
