Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie has been a big hit among fans. It has been breaking records in every region and slowly reaching the top of the rankings. Recently, it was announced that the movie had made more than $555 million in sales, breaking the record set by the Mugen Train movie.
Clearly, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie has been a massive hit with the audience. But was the decision to turn Infinity Castle into a movie trilogy a good idea?

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, Akaza Returns is the first part of the trilogy. As the title suggests, the movie is focused on Akaza, the Upper Moon Two. He also served as the villain of the Mugen Train movie, in which he brutally murdered Rengoku Kyojuro. The demon mocked the Demon Slayers before escaping from the scene. Since then, Akaza has made a few appearances here and there, but none of them have been special.
But in the first Infinity Castle movie, he was in the spotlight. He fought against Tanjiro and Giyu, and he was able to dominate them for the majority of the fight because of his Blood Demon Art.
Towards the end, Tanjiro managed to slice off Akaza's neck, which put the Demon Slayers in a strong position. However, Akaza wasn't willing to die because of his guilt. After a lengthy flashback, Akaza was ready to let go in peace. In addition to Akaza's fight, there were two fights involving Doma and Kaigaku.
Overall, the movie was packed with action, and the flashbacks really added a nice touch. Unfortunately, some fans did not like the flashbacks and found them too distracting. They should remember that flashbacks add many valuable details to the story and increase the stakes further.
Now that the movie has been released, fans will have to wait for at least another year or two for the next one. There are rumors of ufotable trying to wrap up the trilogy by 2028, meaning it will have to follow a strict deadline. Moreover, it will place stress on the staff members because they will have to complete the production in the set timeframe.
Some fans strongly believe that ufotable should have finished the Demon Slayer anime into a regular television series instead of dragging it until 2028. It would be remiss not to mention that the 2028 release date is just a rumor and that the trilogy could end even later.

Next Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Movie Will Be Released In 2027
Since ufotable has already decided on a trilogy, there is no chance it will drop the idea. So, fans should prepare themselves for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2. At the moment, no concrete information is available regarding the release date of the second part. But if one were to go by the rumor of the trilogy ending in 2028, then the second movie is likely to be released in late 2026.
ufotable staff members have previously disclosed that they began work on the first Infinity Castle movie even before the Swordsmith Village arc had premiered. Additionally, it is estimated that the movie took around 3.5 years to develop. If the studio began working on the second movie after finishing the first, the release date would be far away. But it's possible that the work on the second movie began a couple of years back. Only then will the second movie be released in late 2026 or early 2027.
It is also worth mentioning that the decision to turn the finale of the story into a movie trilogy was made almost five years ago. So, the studio was always working with this goal in mind. Hopefully, Aniplex and ufotable will share new updates regarding the second Infinity Castle movie in the coming months. It is possible that they will make an announcement at Jump Festa 2026.
