As is quite apparent now, Infinity Castle managed to do that, and became the biggest movie in Japanese history. Demon Slayer is the undisputed movie king in Japan, but that doesn't mean it can't be challenged. Jinwoo’s voice actor has hinted at an upcoming Solo Leveling movie. A Solo Leveling movie could be a huge hit, but whether it can surpass Demon Slayer or not is to be seen.

A Solo Leveling Movie Would be Huge

Solo Leveling Season 1 and Season 2 were huge hits overseas. The anime quickly gained a lot of attention and won many awards, such as the title of Anime of the Year for 2025. This is no small achievement, especially considering the tough competition it had. But now, with Season 2 having ended quite some time ago, fans are looking at the future, thinking what's next for the series. Right now, no future projects have been explicitly confirmed. Even season 3 of Solo Leveling hasn't been officially announced yet, but fans are still hopeful.

More recently, Jinwoo’s very own voice actor hinted at big things that could be coming. Taito Ban stated that he would like to see Solo Leveling continue for a lot longer, even beyond Season 3. He would love to see Solo Leveling continue to a point where fans get a Season 4 and Season 5. The most interesting part of his message, however, was when he mentioned a movie. A Solo Leveling movie is something fans have always been eager for. If Solo Leveling gets a great movie, it could blow up its popularity even more.

“I would really, really like it if the momentum continued & it didn’t just stop because there’s so much more of the story left to tell. So season 3, season 4, season 5 & maybe even a movie in the works.” — Taito Ban

Can a Solo Leveling Movie Beat Infinity Castle’s Record?

  • It’s Unlikely, but It Could Still Do Very Well
  • Solo Leveling Is Not That Big in Japan

Many anime series get movies, but none of them are even close to being as successful as Demon Slayer in terms of popularity. After all, Demon Slayer holds both the number 1 and number 2 spots at the Japanese Box office. The movies also did amazingly well abroad.

“While thrilled with the response, I personally don't feel like the series is known by everyone at this point. Solo Leveling isn't as universally recognized in Japan yet. As a Japanese person living in Japan, the anime is not at the level of Dragon Ball, One Piece, or Naruto. But if season three happens, that’s when I want to truly break that boundary.” — Atsushi Kaneko

For Solo Leveling, it’s unlikely that it could surpass Demon Slayer’s record, even if it’s a huge hit. It all comes down to its weak popularity in Japan. Solo Leveling is a phenomenon overseas, but in Japan, it’s like any other average anime. Fans need to remember that for anime movies, Japan is the main market, after all. So, while it could do well worldwide, it is highly unlikely that it'll reach the levels that Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle managed to reach.

Solo Leveling has two seasons out right now, one with 12 episodes, and the other with 13, for a combined episode count of 25 episodes available to watch right now. The series can be streamed on Crunchyroll for fans to enjoy while awaiting any more news concerning the third season. For fans who can’t wait for season 3 to come out, checking out the manhwa might be a great option.
