As far as modern anime series go, Demon Slayer has been all the hype, both in Japan, and overseas, when looking at the last year. In 2025, Demon Slayer’s popularity exploded once again thanks to one big project, and that's Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 — Akaza’s Return. This movie was huge, and broke records worldwide.

Coming off the hype of the Infinity Castle movie, fans want to get as much new Demon Slayer content as possible. When it comes to animated content, there doesn’t seem to be much in store for the series in 2026, sadly. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 could take a while, after all, as it is a huge project to deliver in terms of quality. However, that doesn’t mean that there is nothing to look forward to regarding the franchise. For fans in Japan, there’s a huge opportunity to see a Demon Slayer stage play, premiering in June 2026.

  • New Way To Experience The Story of Demon Slayer
  • Exciting New Characters To Meet

Demon Slayer proved in 2025 that it is really worthy of being called the king of modern anime. The series experienced an unprecedented level of success with its Infinity Castle movie. But now, with the movie over, fans wonder what’s next for the series. While waiting for the next movie, some fans would love to learn that a stage play for Demon Slayer is coming.

This stage play, however, doesn’t seem to be going international anytime soon. Instead, fans will have to catch it in Tokyo, Japan. Scripted and directed by Tsuneyasu Motoyoshi, this stage show could be an amazing experience for any Demon Slayer fan in proximity.

  • Two More Demon Slayer Movies Are Coming
  • The Series Will Grow Bigger Than Ever Before

A stage play for Demon Slayer would definitely be a fun experience for some, but still, it remains inaccessible to most overseas fans of the series. What Demon Slayer fans are really looking forward to is more animated content. Specifically, fans want to know when Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 is coming out.

With the first movie, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 — Akaza’s Return, having been released in 2025, it seems unlikely for Part 2 to drop in 2026. Realistically, the studio would probably need two years between each movie. In that sense, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 should be expected around 2027. Of course, that is still to be determined by the studio, so fans should keep an eye out for any big reveals.

Then, the final Demon Slayer movie will probably be set for a release in 2029, and that should drop the curtain on the franchise for good.

Fans had hoped for Jump Festa 2026 to drop major Demon Slayer reveals, especially concerning Infinity Castle Part 2, but unfortunately, that was not the case. It was a rather underwhelming stage overall, with no mention of the Demon Slayer movies at all. This doesn't mean that no update will be given to the fans, as other big projects will probably drop later this year.

For now, fans will definitely have to wait longer. The only thing they can do at the moment is to wait for the second movie, and in the meantime, enjoy things like the upcoming Demon Slayer stageplay, which is sure to be massive in its own way. Fans who are planning to fly to Japan should book their tickets accordingly, and maybe even plan their trip around it to be able to enjoy it to the fullest.

Hopefully, the stage play will prove to be a great distraction until Infinity Castle Part 2 drops officially.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 is out in theatres now. Fans who don't want to wait for the movies to drop can check the manga out on Manga Plus. Meanwhile, for the anime, the series currently has 4 anime seasons. These anime seasons can all be found on Crunchyroll.
