The following article contains major spoilers for Demon Slayer.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — The Movie: Infinity Castle will be released in a few days. Fans hoping to avoid spoilers should be cautious on social media from now on, as Japanese fans are likely to comment on the events of the latest entry in the Demon Slayer anime.
The Infinity Castle trilogy will adapt the final arc of the story, so fans can expect intense battles and major deaths from here on. That said, who's likely to die in the first movie, based on the manga?
Demon Slayer Could Drop More Anime Content After the Infinity Castle Movies, But There's a Catch
The Demon Slayer: The Infinity Castle Arc trilogy will conclude the anime series, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's all over.
Which Parts of the Manga Will the First Movie Cover?
The movie isn't out yet, so it's impossible to know exactly where the first movie will end. However, both the full Japanese title (Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle — Part 1: Akaza Returns) and the promotional material point to the movie focusing on the fight against Akaza, which is when Tanjiro Kamado finally avenges Kyojuro Rengoku's death. Another major hint that this battle will be the core of the movie is that Mugen Train was re-screened in several countries in preparation for the new movie.
Therefore, it's safe to assume that the final defeat of Akaza will be the climax of the movie. The battle between Tanjiro, Giyu Tomioka, and Akaza takes place from Chapter 150 to Chapter 156. However, meanwhile, Zenitsu Agatsuma fights Kaigaku, and others face Doma. All these battles have been highlighted in the trailers, so the movie should cover from Chapter 140 to Chapter 163, ending the three battles. Perhaps Akaza, Doma, and Kaigaku will fall simultaneously as the movie changes its focus between battles.
Who Will Die in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle — Akaza Returns?
Given the strong possibility that the movie will adapt events from Chapters 140 to 163, then all these demons will die. Furthermore, Shinobu Kocho is certain to die if the movie even begins with the first chapters of the Infinity Castle arc, as she dies fighting Doma but is able to poison him. Then, Kanao Tsuyuri and Inosuke Hashibira will be able to kill him. Therefore, these will be the major deaths:
- Shinobu Kocho (at the beginning of the movie).
- Doma.
- Kaigaku.
- Akaza.
If the movie follows this route, Shinobu will be the only casualty for the Demon Slayer Corps (at least for now). All other deaths will be from demons. However, Tanjiro, Giyu, Zenitsu, Kanao, and Inosuke will all end up with major injuries. The second movie should then cover the intense battles against Kokushibo and Nakime.
When Will Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Be Released?
The first movie will be released this week in Japan, on July 18, 2025. It will then premiere internationally starting in August, with releases across Asia. In the US, Canada, and the UK, the movie will hit theaters on September 12, 2025, subbed and dubbed in English. It will be released in Latin America around the same time. In some European countries, the movie will premiere a few weeks later, in late September or early October.
Since the huge success of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie Mugen Train, the attention of theater owners around the world to anime has changed. Infinity Castle will also be released on an unprecedented scale. I think it will be a milestone movie for theatrical anime, so I think it is Crunchyroll’s responsibility to deliver solid results.

As for the other two movies in the trilogy, it hasn't been confirmed when they will be released. However, rumors suggest that a new movie will be out every two years, so it would be in 2027 and in 2029.
