Bungie is now "digging on bonk builds," according to one of the Destiny 2 community managers who commented on the topic of Witch Queen's new raid race. Specifically, he spoke on the topic of Exotic weapon and armor interactions that allow for insane damage output and mechanic side-stepping, which would be particularly problematic for the first raiding weekend.

Namely, whenever there's a brand-new raid release in Destiny 2, it's up to the players themselves to figure out how to complete its mechanics and puzzles, and how to best deal with the various unique boss encounters found within. To that end, weapons such as Telesto, which is infamous for bugging out, may need to be disabled to make the initial world's first raid completion as fair as possible.

The comment from Bungie's community manager is very likely referring to the incredibly powerful Destiny 2 Titan Throwing Hammer build that has allowed players to take down raid bosses in just one hit. According to him, developers will make an attempt to fix as many ability interactions as possible before the raid is out on March 5th, but they're unlikely to fix everything across the board. Outliers may, then, end up being disabled entirely until players get the world's first pyramid raid finish.

The Destiny 2 Witch Queen raid appears to be set in a sunken Darkness pyramid, making this one of the most narratively important pieces of content Bungie has delivered in quite a long while. Not letting players rely on so-called "bonk builds" that one-shot anything and everything should let raid mechanics and boss encounters shine more clearly, though there's no telling what might await within the pyramid.

Just a few days back, Bungie discussed the importance of balancing Destiny 2's campaign with raid content. There, Bungie's Destiny 2 game director went into substantial detail on how the team wants everyone to experience as much narrative progression as possible, though corralling the most casual players into raids hasn't been all that successful yet. Since almost all players participating in the world's first raid will be Destiny veterans with knowledge of meta builds, keeping these in line is very important.

Bungie's community manager also confirmed that the team would let players know which Exotics and perks may end up disabled as early as possible. Though some players' favorite Exotics may end up being unusable until the raid race is up, the introduction of Witch Queen Glaive weapon class is just the top of the gadget iceberg that's being added with this DLC. To that end, finding a new meta that doesn't literally break the game shouldn't be too obnoxious.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series platforms, with the Witch Queen DLC coming out on February 22nd.
