With all of the new buildcrafting tools coming in The Edge of Fate expansion for Destiny 2, this expansion will surely be a major turning point for the game’s meta. While it remains to be seen what exactly Destiny 2’s new meta will look like when The Edge of Fate expansion releases on July 15, the latest TWID developer blog for Destiny 2 (formerly known as the TWAB) has just considerably narrowed things down to a few particular builds that players should consider investing in.
Now that the Seasonal Artifact perks for The Edge of Fate have been revealed ahead of this expansion’s official release, players should keep these new buildcrafting tools in mind when hunting for new loot in Destiny 2. Especially for players who plan on participating in the Desert Perpetual Raid race for Destiny 2 and will need to perfect their builds ASAP, the new meta is likely already hiding in plain sight.
Destiny 2 is Rewriting One of Its Exotic Unwritten Rules
One unspoken rule of Destiny 2’s exotics has just been broken, and it could have a few implications for what Bungie wants out of Edge of Fate.
Destiny 2’s Edge of Fate Artifact Perks Put the Spotlight on Stasis and Strand Builds
Overall, the majority of the new Seasonal Artifact Perks coming in The Edge of Fate expansion will provide several buffs specific to Stasis and Strand builds. However, for players who prefer the Light Subclasses, some perks will provide buffs for Solar Subclass builds, as well as neutral/universal perks that apply to all Subclasses.
Even if players don’t want to run a pure Stasis or Strand build, it ultimately seems like the new meta for Destiny 2 will involve either Dark-Elemental weapons, Dark-Subclass abilites, or both, given how powerful some of these new Artifact Perks are anticipated to be. So, for any players looking to improve their builds in time for the Perpetual Desert Raid Race, or for any other reason, players should look no further than Stasis Frost Armor or Strand Tangle builds.
Stasis Frost Armor Builds Could be Top-Tier for Survivability in The Edge of Fate Meta
Despite not having access to Solar Restoration, the new Artifact Perks will provide several additional benefits to Stasis Frost Armor builds, making this feature a valuable buildcrafting tool for increasing players’ survivability. For this reason, players should consider looking out for precision Stasis weapons to tap into some of these powerful Seasonal Artifact perks.
- One with Frost: While Frost Armor is active, Stasis weapons gain increased reload speed and stability. Stasis Swords gain increased guard resistance.
- Fever and Chill: Rapid precision hits with Stasis weapons grant Frost Armor.
- Frost Renewal: While you have Frost Armor, taking critical damage releases a burst that freezes nearby combatants and grants Frost Armor to you and nearby allies.
- Shieldcrush: While you have Woven Mail, Frost Armor, or a Void overshield, your melee recharges faster and deals increased damage.
- Frigid Glare: While Frost Armor is active, Stasis precision final blows cause combatants to release a freezing burst.
Strand Tangle Builds Could Make Ad-Clear a Cake Walk in Destiny 2
While Stasis Frost Armor builds are shaping up to be the new meta for survivability, Strand Tangle builds could be the new meta for overall DPS. Not only will Woven Mail have access to additional utilities, similar to Frost Armor, but generating, destroying, and collecting Strand Tangles will have a variety of new and improved effects.
- Tightly Woven: While Woven Mail is active, gain increased class ability and Grenade stats.
- Threaded Blast: Destroying a Tangle with Strand damage increases the radius of the explosion and its damage.
- Refresh Threads: Picking up an elemental pickup matching your subclass element or Tangle while you have a Strand Super grants energy to your least charged ability.
- Shieldcrush: While you have Woven Mail, Frost Armor, or a Void overshield, your melee recharges faster and deals increased damage.
- Elemental Overdrive: Picking up an elemental pickup or Tangle grants increased damage to weapons of the same element.
- Tangled Web: Creating a Tangle by defeating a Strand debuffed target suspends nearby combatants.
