Summary

  • Bungie confirms tonic issues in Destiny 2's Tomb of Elders activity.
  • Essentially, drinking a drop rate boost tonic isn't applying to the associated weapon.
  • Thankfully, Destiny 2 players have seemingly discovered which tonics impact specific weapons for now.

Bungie confirms a recently discovered issue with Tomb of Elders related tonics in Destiny 2, providing increased drop rates for the wrong weapons. Act 2 of Episode Revenant is in full swing, giving Destiny 2 players the next piece of the narrative against Fikrul, though it also brought with it other new content, activities, and gear to loot.

One of the bigger new additions to Destiny 2 Episode Revenant is the Tomb of Elders, an activity that longtime fans may be familiar with. Added alongside Destiny 2's major midseason update, Tomb of Elders is a refreshed take on the legacy activity known as Prison of Elders, which was first introduced inside of the Forsaken expansion. While that expansion and its content was vaulted years ago, Bungie has managed to find a way to bring back the activity, albeit with a few tweaks and changes in tow.

Tomb of Elders is intended to be a repeatable activity, pitting players against various factions and offering rewards upon completion. Using Episode Revenant's Tonics mechanic, players can craft special buffs that can boost effects and even drop rates for weapons. However, players have started to notice that Tomb of Elders specific tonics don't appear to be working correctly, with one player in particular seemingly confirming after numerous tests that drop rates are being added for the wrong weapons.

Bungie Confirms Tomb of Elders Tonics in Destiny 2 are Broken

As it turns out, Bungie has also discovered the issue and confirmed it on its official help channels. Specifically, Bungie has identified the issue causing drop rates to increase for the wrong Episode Revenant weapons in Destiny 2 than what the tonic was for. Unfortunately, no fix date was given so for now, players will need to hope RNG is on their side, or use the findings in reprix900's Reddit post to drink the tonic that will increase the desired weapon.

Tonics aren't the only issue impacting Destiny 2 at the moment, as Bungie was recently forced to completely disable the Warlock's Ballidorse Wrathweavers exotic gauntlets. Destiny 2 players discovered a huge damage glitch that essentially allowed the Warlock to one-shot or wipe the health of most bosses in an instant when triggering Winter's Wrath. On top of that, Sentinel Shield Titan's are also punching things harder than intended, though Bungie is working on a fix for that later in December.
