Destiny 2 has a long and winding story, and while the Final Shape expansion marked the end of the Light and Dark saga, there's still more things to experience down the line. The game's list of expansions can be pretty confusing for those who aren't already familiar with them, and if you're trying to get into Destiny 2 for the first time, you likely won't know where to start.
This guide contains all Destiny 2 expansions in chronological order, including their release dates and associated seasonal content, all for players who want to get deeper into the game or those who want a reference point for the series' runtime.

The launch of Destiny 2 included the Red War campaign that served as the game's main premise at the time. It has since been vaulted, which means no one is able to play through it again in its entirety anymore. It was shortly followed by Curse of Osiris and Warmind shortly after.
Forsaken served as a major turning point in Destiny 2's history. Not only did it have a solid campaign, but it also reworked many of the game's fundamental systems (such as the introduction of randomized loot). Forsaken also marked the beginning of Destiny 2's transition to a seasonal model, starting with Season of the Outlaw.
The campaigns for each expansion pack slowly moved the main Light and Dark saga's narrative little by little, while seasonal stories were often self-contained or played only minor parts in the broader story. Every bit of storytelling eventually culminated in The Final Shape, where the Guardians and all of their allies entered the Pale Heart of the Traveler to put a stop to the Witness.
With the Light and Dark saga done and dusted, it was time to start a new story. The Edge of Fate is the starting point of a new saga, one that should prove to be easier to get into for players who weren't able to experience the Light and Dark saga from start to finish.
