Banner of War is a Strand Aspect for the Titan class in Destiny 2 that has a reputation for being extremely strong in PvE. It heals the user and all other Guardians within its area of effect, and when paired with other Strand subclass effects, it can turn Titans into unstoppable killing machines.
Is Destiny 2 Worth Playing in 2024?
While Destiny 2 continues to garner criticism its gunplay and upcoming anticipated updates make it debatable whether it's worth playing in 2024.
Unlike the other Strand Aspects, players will have to go through an extra hurdle before they can unlock this one. Luckily, there's nothing complicated involved in the process. Here's how to get
Banner of War in Destiny 2.
How to Unlock Banner of War
- Finish the Lightfall campaign.
- Complete the Unfinished Business quest for the Deterministic Chaos Machine Gun.
- Complete the Parting the Veil quest from Nimbus.
- Finish the Unveiled quest, also from Nimbus.
- Go to the Pouka Pond to unlock the new Aspect.
Banner of War was added sometime after the release of Lightfall and the first wave of new Strand Aspects (
Flechette Storm,
Threaded Specter, and The Wanderer). The mission you need to unlock Banner of War is called Unveiled, which will send you back to the Irkalla Complex to listen to a few audio logs and some dialogue. If this quest doesn't appear for you, make sure to complete all the steps listed above first.
Unveiled is short and very simple. Simply follow the quest markers, and the quest will eventually be completed. Once you load back out into Neomuna, return to the Pouka Pond to find Banner of War waiting for you. You don't need to spend anything to unlock it — just click on it, and the Aspect is yours.
Destiny 2: King's Fall Loot Table
The King's Fall raid in Destiny 2 features a number of amazing PvE weapons for Destiny 2. Here's all the loot you can find aboard Oryx's Dreadnaught.
Banner of War is a hybrid offensive/defensive Aspect that incentivizes aggressive, close-ranged fighting with swords and melee attacks. Every melee kill scored by you or nearby allies while the Aspect is equipped activates Banner of War, which spawns a visible flag on the Titan's back that releases healing pulses. Each kill adds a stack to the banner, up to four total — healing pulses burst out more frequently depending on the banner's stacks.
The Aspect heals flat amounts of HP per pulse, so you won't have to worry about it getting interrupted. To get the most out of this, make sure to have some means of gaining Woven Mail. The
Into the Fray Aspect grants Woven Mail after destroying a Tangle. If you want to use something else in your second Aspect slot, use the
Thread of Warding Fragment.
The damage boost portion of Banner of War does increase with the Aspect's stacks. However, it can be combined with other melee buffs like Burning Fists from Wormgod's Caress and One-Two Punch, resulting in absurd amounts of melee damage with
Frenzied Blade.
