The Nightstalker subclass for Hunters offers some of the best utility skills in Destiny 2. They're often the ones who clutch runs with their on-demand Void Invisibility, saving the team from a wipe or an unfortunate trip back to orbit. Nightstalkers also have an ace up their sleeve in the form of Omnioculus, one of the best Hunter Exotics in the game that's almost mandatory for some Grandmaster Nightfall missions.
Destiny 2: Every Dungeon, Ranked By How Hard They Are To Solo
Soloing a dungeon in Destiny 2 is no easy task. Here's how each of the game's dungeons ranks in terms of solo completion difficulty.
It's hard to understate just how valuable the
Omnioculus is in Destiny 2's hardest content. Every Hunter should have one in their Vault, but if you're not sure why this Exotic armor piece is so beloved, here's a quick guide on what it's for and where to get one for yourself.
Destiny 2 Omnioculus: What It Does & How to Get It
The Omnioculus is an Exotic chest piece for Void Hunters that grants an extra Smoke Bomb charge and 50% damage resistance (10% in PvP) while the wearer is invisible. Turning allies invisible also refunds 50% ability energy per ally. Invisibility will keep enemies from targeting you, but it won't protect you from stray shots or persistent damage fields. The damage resistance will give you and your teammates a chance to scramble for cover while tanking any hits you might receive along the way.
You can only get the Omnioculus by farming Legend/Master Lost Sectors, but only on days that drop Exotic chest armor. It's possible to get an Omnioculus from Exotic engrams after you've acquired one from a Lost Sector.
Best Omnioculus Build
Thanks to the super specific role and trigger requirement for Omnioculus, the best way to run this Exotic is with the
Trapper's Ambush and
Stylish Executioner Aspects, along with the
Echo of Persistence Fragment. This combo extends the duration of Void Invisibility while providing personal and team-wide cloaking.
Trapper's Ambush lets Smoke Bomb turn allies invisible, granting them the same 50% damage reduction provided by Omnioculus. Also, cloaking at least two allies with one Smoke Bomb will fully refund your melee energy, giving the entire team near-permanent invisibility for dicey situations. This Aspect also lets you activate Quickfall while midair, debuffing enemies and causing you and allies near the impact point to become invisible at the cost of Class Ability energy. Essentially, Trapper's Ambush gives the team three ways to become invisible.
Stylish Executioner is preferred over Vanishing Step since the latter overlaps with Quickfall.
Vanishing Step can't make allies invisible, which means you won't gain any ability energy back. Meanwhile, Stylish Executioner procs every time you kill a Void-debuffed enemy — this works with debuffs applied by
Echo of Undermining (Weaken),
Echo of Instability (Volatile), or Destabilizing Rounds. The
Collective Obligation Pulse Rifle from Vow of the Disciple works wonders with Void builds that focus on debuffs.
